||- An unfinished letter -||
Between what is said and not meant, and what is meant and not said, most of love is lost...
- Kahlil Gibran
________Among the charred remains of papers, in a tattered tent in an abandoned camp in the desert, lies a paper untouched by the flames. In slender writing and artistic penmanship the following words are inked into it...
Stranger you are,
As snow in the desert land
Falling from the smooth heavens
To the embrace of rough sandThe rays of sun chase after
This dream won't last an age
They burn you in vicious laughter
For daring to break their cageYou still cross the distance
as gracefully as a dance
And melt away in silence
Not lasting more than a glanceThen in the night,
When no sign of you remain on sand
The desert weeps in moonlight
In the memory of your slipped hand...It is rather strange, how every little detail of my view makes me think of you...this night star - studded and dark like your hair, or the sand storming like that look in your eyes sometimes. You are so much a part of these lands that keeping you barred from them feels like a crime.
My princess, who never wanted a knight to rescue her from the tower, I hope you are faring well. Though you have never enjoyed the role of a pawn, I hope you know this is but your journey to the opposite end of the board where the throne is awaiting.
The battle is calling. Soon we shall meet again, though on the crashing waves of the opposite troops.
A queen you shall be; no matter who wins the battle tomorrow. But, with them you would be a queen in shackles, without them a queen with wings. I must confess the second is the kind of queen, I would bow down to.
Though this is another letter that you will never receive, I dare hope you know my heart lies with you. It is frightening to finally have something to lose and you have become that treasure in my life; in your name I go to battle. For I have never been a prince, no do I intend to become a king. I was born and raised, as a soldier and that is what soldiers are supposed to do.
I wish you every happiness in the world, whatever maybe the outcome tomorrow.
May you always chase the sun, and may it dispel the darkness in your life!
