Once upon a time there was a dragon who had to live all by himself in a cave because every time he flew out, the villagers would chase him with pitchforks and shoot arrows at him. Then one day a fair maiden was walking through the forest as she heard the dragons sobs. She carefully followed the cries and found herself at the entrance to the cave. She was afraid but she knew someone was hurt inside. She walked in and saw the most beautiful sight ever. There in front of her was a majestic golden dragon who was crying. She made her way over to his face and said, "Dragon why are you crying? Have you been injured?" The dragon hid his face and replied, "I have been injured everyday since I was born. I was injured by the things that were thrown my way. I was injured by the stares I received as I roamed the countryside. I was injured by the screams I caused just by stretching my wings. And I was injured by the arrows that people shot at me." By the end of his rant, the girl was crying also. She didn't understand why they would be so mean to him just because he was a dragon. "I will stay with you and everyday I make you happy, is a day I will never forget" she said wiping her tears. The girl wrote down every day in her diary and as time went on, the dragon got older and older and on his deathbed the young girl who was now an old woman told him her secret. "Everyday when you went out hunting, I would write down my thoughts about living with a dragon and I made them into books. I passed them out to the villagers and now I have a surprise for you." As she finished speaking, all the villagers who threw things at him, stared at him, screamed in fear, and shot arrows at him, had arrived. They bowed down beside him and wept. Every single one of them apologized and put their hands on his scales. The dragon took a deep breath and whispered, "I forgive you all and I love you all." And then he passed away. Surrounded by his new family.
