Poke's POV:

Today I don't know what to do besides farm work... After I finish farm work I go through the pictures I kept, Jas and Shane have the rest. I stop at the one where it shows Grandpa, Eliza, and I. I miss them... Grandpa... Eliza... I wish I could see them again...

"Your grandpa was a farmer? Wow what a fool.

Eliza is just a blood relative. She's nothing compared to me."

That voice came into my mind and I hated how it talked about them. I wanted it to shut up. I wanted it to stop. I'm fine whenever it talks about me, but it's talking about my family. I love my family. It kept going on and on about my family. I started sobbing, and it wouldn't stop. I just wanted it to stop.

But how?

Shane's POV:

Today is another day of work for me. Another day of just stocking those shelves. But I wanted to talk to Poke today, I wanted to visit her farm. I still have the picture of when I caught her back when we were kids. Poke let me keep it and Marnie wouldn't shut up about the pictures. Once it turns 5 o'clock, I leave and start heading towards Mystic Farm. I walk until the farm and house is in view. I remember when Poke told me I can come to her whenever I wanted to talk. I walk closer to the house when I hear.

She was crying.

I knock on the door and start hearing sniffles and shuffling. The door cracks open a little bit and I could see Poke's eyes. They were bloodshot , puffy, and filled with tears. I then see them widen and hear her mousey voice. "Sh-Shane..?" "Poke..? Are you okay?" She sniffles a little bit before she answers. "I-I'm okay..." I sigh, "You're obviously not okay Poke... Can I come in..?" She widens the door and I see her entire figure. She is trembling and I can see her face is covered in tear stains. "Y-You can come in... I f-f-finally got a kitchen... I can make you s-something..." I come in and I close the door. "Poke... What's wrong..?" "...I... I d-don't wanna talk about it..." She is still sniffling and trembling. "Poke... Please, I want to make sure you're ok..." She then hugs me and I can tell she wants to cry. "Poke... If you need to cry just cry, I can wait..." She mutters a thank you and starts to cry. After a while she stops. She lets go and looks up at me. "C-Can you come with me for a moment?" I nod and I follow her.

We go into her bedroom and she sits down one side of the bed and pats next to her, basically she wants me to sit down next to her. I sit next to her and she starts to speak. "...Before I came to Pelican Town, I used to have a 'boyfriend'." She used her fingers as quotation marks on boyfriend. "H-He really just bossed me around all the time... I did whatever he said... He started to speak badly about my family..." I look at her and I can tell she just wants to cry again, and I can already see the tears in her eyes. "I t-told him to stop... But he wouldn't... He just continued on and on..." What an asshole. WHAT AN ASSHOLE! "After I read the letter from Grandpa I quit my job, packed my things, and told him I was leaving him. I th-thought I would've been able to get rid of those thoughts out of my head but..." She started to cry again. "W-W-Well you see me now and you saw me back there..." She curls up into a ball and starts to sob. "I just want those thoughts to go away!" I get closer to her and hug her. I've never seen her cry before... Whoever her ex was I'm not ever forgiving him. He made her cry and spoke badly about the family she loved... She started to hug me back and continued to cry until we hear a noise, from me.

From my stomach.

I could feel her smile, and she stood up on the floor and wiped her tears away from her eyes. "I-I guess I should make you something, I'll be back Shane." She left and I already felt bad, but good at the same time. About 20-25 minutes later she comes back in with some pepper poppers. I smile wide, "Thanks Poke." "No problem Shane, it's the least I could do." "Actually, how about we share them?" "A-Are you sure..?" "Yeah I'm sure." She smiles that wide and bright smile. It could fill up a room with that light. "Thank you so much Shane." "Your welcome." We share the pepper poppers and once I finish I say goodbye to Poke and thank her for the food again.

I walk home for once, with a smile on my face. I open the door and Marnie and Jas are staring at me with concern, happiness, and confusion. "Well I have two questions. One, where were you?! Gus didn't see you come into the saloon! Two, I have never seen you this happy before, what happened? Did they have a sale on beer?" I scoff at Marnie on that beer comment. "For the first question, I was at Poke's farm. For the second question, I don't know exactly what, but I haven't touched a drop of alcohol." Marnie stood at me at amazement before she smirked. Then incoming Jas. "Is Poke's farm cool Uncle Shane?! I wanted to ask her if I could come before, but I forgot to ask..." I ruffle Jas' hair a little bit. "Her farm is amazing kiddo. I'll ask her if you can come over next time I see her, but you need to go to bed, ok?" "Ok! Goodnight Uncle Shane!"

As soon as Jas left Marnie came up towards me. "So~. You stayed at Poke's for a while~. Then you come in bright-eyed and smiling afterwards when you were come in. Sounds like someone's got a crush~" I glare at Marnie as I felt the heat in my cheeks. "Shut up. I don't have a crush on her." I shouldn't have said that. "So~ you love~ her then~?" My cheeks got even hotter, but I didn't say anything this time. "Awwww~ You two would be so cute together~. I still remember when you two tried to dance together when you were little~." Marnie started giggling. "Good night Shane." After saying goodnight she went back to her room and I went to mine. Great... Now Marnie knows... S**t, I shouldn't have said anything...

But I would be lying if I said I didn't love her...
