Cuba

"Take a picture of me Molly." I said turning in my chair then leaning back against the table.

"You feeling yourself huh?" She said

"Damn right hurry up before I lose it."

She got up holding her sandwich in one hand & phone in the other then took the picture. She turned the phone to face me. I smiled at the picture of myself.

"Send it to me." I said while cheesing.

"You OTS. Think you the shit with that damn gem on ya forehead." She said sitting down.

"Ok & in a month all these Atlanta hoes gonna be walking around with gems on they heads. Monkey see monkey do."

"Whatever. You ain't Egyptian."

"Egyptians don't wear these Indians do dummy."

Molly laughed shaking her head & I grabbed my smoothie drinking it. We were at Subway having lunch. It was 3 so we had a few hours to chill until I had to be at the World Congress Center. Graduation don't start til 8 but graduates gotta get there an hour early. A part of me was stressed cause I knew Qua was gonna be there, and another part of me was hurting for another reason.

"What you thinking bout now Cuba?" Molly asked.

I shook my head. "I don't wanna talk bout it."

"If it's Qua then-"

"Bitch it's not Qua everything not about him."

"Then what?"

I smacked my lips staring at her.

"Man G, my mom not gonna see me graduate tonight."

Molly shook her head before taking another bite of her sandwich. I hate to show any emotion towards my mom. It's ironic how she moved us down here to 'Save us' & because she loves us, but hasn't checked on us since we been down here. I been in a fuck it mood when it comes to her, but I believe any regular human wants their mom to see them graduate. So yeah, I am hurt that she's not here.

"What's going on with her?" Molly said

"I don't know & I'm not worried." I lied

"I know you better than that Cuba. It's ok to be upset. That's ya moms."

"You ready to go?" I said. She looked at me then shrugged her shoulders.
