                      *Chapter One*

"Oh, come on, he can't be that bad", John says as I glare at him.

I give him an 'are you kidding me' look as I turn my laptop into his line of view.

"I mean, besides the fact that his hair makes a halo around his shiny bald-spot, he seems okay!" John smirks.

"Come on, this guy can't possibly 'be the one', why does my mom even use these stupid dating sites", I replied along with a roll of my eyes.

"Hey, it's still better than that one dude she tried last month who's khakis basically ate his torso."

I laughed a took a sip of my Vanilla Coke. John keeps it in his mini-fridge just for me. John's house might as well have been my second home, I virtually grew up here. Their house is a four bedroom, two story pad, although John is an only child.

I've known John all my life, everyone else calls him Finn, but I use his first name instead. I don't know why, really, I guess it was because when we were little, it used to bug the crap out of him. If most people were to say his name, they would pronounce it as 'johhn', but with his Chicago accent, it's more of a 'jaaaahn'.

Him and I are like two peas in a pod, we are the Batman and Robin of reality. Best Friends, always have been and always will be.

My dad walked out on us two years ago. My mom decided that it was easiest to just forget and move on. Ever since that, she's been going out every other week trying to find her 'soulmate' from one of her many dating websites.

Tonight she's going on a date with a guy named Torrance. Seriously? I kind of feel bad for her, it's not like she's going to find Mr. 'Fabio' though soulmate.com or any other one of those dumb pages. Still, she doesn't have to settle for someone that has absolutly nothing in common with her just for the sake of having a relationship.
