Clara POV-

When Valerie froze Skylar, Katherine tried to yell at her to unfreeze her. I knew it wouldn't be reasonable.

"She can't undo the cold. It wouldn't make sense. She can only make things colder," I said, getting in between Valerie and Katherine.

"Well then how do you suppose we unfreeze Skylar? Huh!" Katherine said in an almost angry, sarcastic toneed voice. That voice was why I never became her friend.

Valerie put her shaky hands on her head. "I'm the closest thing we have to warmth right now. I'll see what I can do," I said.

"What are you going to do?" Katherine asked, "Turn her into a flower?" She mocked, but I tuned her out.

I flew over to Skylar's frozen body. Considering that I learned about my powers two days ago, I've gotten my used to my powers.

I placed my hand on Skylar's shoulder. I tried to think of her as one of my plants. One that needed more sunlight or warmth in the winter. I could feel her shoulder getting warmer, but it wasn't enough.

I willed all of my power and emotions into this. Her shoulder got warmer and then it spread to her neck and upper arm. I tried harder.

Her whole left arm was almost thawed out. The more energy I used, the more colder I felt myself get. Like when winter first turns I to spring. I kept putting more and more power into it.

Until my knees bucked and I passed out.

While I was blacked out, I had a dream. A very vivid dream.

I was back in school standing in a vaguely familiar classroom. The desks were pushed to the sides of the room like kids had pushed them in a hurry. There were bones everywhere. Human bones. On the teacher's desk was the name plate. 'Ms. Dodson,' it read.

The door opened, and I zipped around. Ms. Dodson stood in the doorway. She took a few steps foreword, while I walked backwards to the door.

She transformed into nothing I've never seen before. My teacher was a monster. Black, leathery bat wings sprouted from her back. Her face deformed and her body turned the same texture and color as her wings. Her teeth turned into blood stained teeth.

"You killed them. You killed my classmates. You ate then!" I shouted to her as she approached me.

Ms. Dodson smirked a toothy grin. Yes I did. And you and your friends will be next. Starting with Skylar. She said in my mind. The monster stopped walking and flew to me.

In fear, I crouched down. Not meaning to, I made roots grow from the ground. I heard a screeching scream. I looked up to see my ex-teacher doubled over her stomach with a tree trunk lodged inside if her.

Around me was a cage made out of vines and tree branches. Right outside of the cage was Ms. Dodson, 'human' again. She disappeared into. Puff of smoke.

The plant cage contracted back into the ground with a wave of my hand. I stood up and walked around the room again.

In the center of the room was a picture of a student's picture and a message written in blood.

The student was a boy. He looked familiar. He was about my age and had dirty blond hair. It was a yearbook photo so there was a blue background behind him. I picked it up to see it closer. Nothing seemed odd, so I stuck it in my pocket.

The message, though, threw me off. It was written in human blood. It said 'your next' in all caps. It was written with a finger and was smeared.

I turned to the door and ran to it. It closed right when my head hit it. I fell to the ground and woke up.
