Chapter 1: The Date

Gwen was standing in front of the mirror trying to get her emerald diamond necklace on. It was the only thing that matched her red plaid shirt and ripped blue jeans. She looked at herself and smiled so bright that she could give someone a sun burn." "This is it." She thought. "He is finally going to ask me!" She heard the doorbell ring. She quickly grabbed her backpack and ran down the stairs to open the door. As she opened the redwood door she saw a very tall man. He had black hair and was wearing a brown leather jacket, a light blue flannel shirt, and blue jeans with brown cowboy boots. He stood there with one hand behind his back and a smile on his face.

"Gwen, you look absolutely amazing."

"I can say the same for you to, John." John smiled again and pulled out a red rose from behind his back. Gwen looked at the rose, smiled, and took it. John held his hand out to her and said," Shall we go?" Gwen took his hand. As they headed out of the house it started to rain.

"Run! It's raining cats and dogs!" Gwen said as she ran to the small white car parked in the driveway. John lifted his jacket over his head and started to run yelling, "I will not die today!" John finally got in the car and started it. Gwen put the rose in the cup holder next to her and her backpack on the floor and asked,

"So where are we going to, John?"

"Gwen, you know I love making surprises. So, you will find out soon." John smiled at her in a goofy way. They started off on their adventure and after 10 minutes Gwen fell asleep laying on John's thighs. John looked down on Gwen saying," What a sweet angel." He put his hand on Gwen's head and started rubbing his hands through her thick brown hair. After being on the highway Gwen woke up to the car going on a dirt road. She looked up to see John's face and up his nose, which was not a delightful. She rose up and saw the time.

"John its seven o'clock, we left my house at five. Where are we going?" John looked at Gwen and smiled. John put his arm around Gwen and kissed her on the cheek. After a minute, the car stopped. Gwen got out of the car and looked around. She saw a lot of trees, flowers, a tree stump, and a river.

"So, where are we? Where did you take me?

"I took you to the Enchanted Forest."

Gwen crossed her arms and "Really."

"No, that is really what it is called. Honest babe!" Gwen blushed and looked away. "Ok, why are we here?" "You will see in a minute, but first I need you to go and sit on that tree stump." John pointed at the tree stump and smiled. Gwen shook her head and walked to the tree stump. She sat down and looked at John. "Now close your eyes." Gwen closed her eyes and listened. She heard the river rushing by and the birds singing. She smelt the aroma of the flowers and the pine trees they were surrounded by. She sighed. "This is what life needs to be like all the time." She whispered to herself. "Ok, now you can open your eyes." Gwen opened her eyes and gasped. John had laid out a picnic blanket and he had put a candle in the middle of it. He also had food set out on the blanket. Gwen looked at John. His handsome green eyes sparkled like stars in the night. Gwen walked over to the blanket and sat down at a plate. John sat at the plate across from her. Gwen started eating some grapes and John had a sandwich. When they were done John cleared everything off of the blanket and sat down by Gwen. He looked into her beautiful blue eyes and said, "I have something really important to tell you." Gwen's heart started beating faster. "This is it." She thought. "Gwen," he paused, "I really have to go to the bathroom." Gwen's face fell along with her heart. "I am absolutely joking." John said. "I actually wanted to ask you if you would be my girlfriend." She was stunned. She didn't know what to say. "Yes or no?" John asked concerned. Gwen nodded. John sighed. "I am so happy, I don't know what to say." Gwen said. John looked at her and smiled. He leaned over to Gwen, Gwen started to leaning. Then the two of them came together in a kiss. They felt like they were in the middle of space together. After they kissed Gwen grabbed his hand and said, "Let's go on a walk." He smiled, grabbed Gwen by the waist and started to kiss her again. When they were kissing Gwen fell down on her back. Gwen and John started to laugh. John was laying on top of Gwen resting his head on her stomach. After a while John got up saying, "Want to go on that walk?" Gwen smiled, she got her backpack out of the car and grabbed a flashlight. John grabbed his phone and turned the flashlight on. John grabbed Gwen's handed and smiled at her. They started walking. They came by a tree, John grabbed a pocket knife out of his pocket and marked the tree with a big X.

"What is that for?" asked Gwen as she shined the light on the tree. John looked at Gwen and replied, "So we cannot get lost in the woods and know where we are." Gwen looked at John worried. She didn't want to get lost, her heart started to beat faster and faster till John put his arm around her. She felt safe again knowing that he is there. They kept walking. Gwen stop, grabbed John shirt.

"What?" asked John. Gwen pointed up, he looked and saw stars everywhere. His jaws dropped. He whispered, "This is the second most beautiful thing I have seen today." Gwen looked at him and smiled. He smiled back. They kept walking, Gwen looked and she saw shadows and shapes of trees.

"Gwen, look at that," whispered John. Gwen shined her light towards John. She looked by him and she didn't expect to see what she saw. Gwen replied, "A door?"
