What am I doing with my life? School has been out for months and I still haven't did anything "thrill-worthy." The only thing I have done so far is stuff my face with my grandmother's famous chocolate chip cookies and that's not even something exciting. But hey, It's good for my taste buds and my sanity. I swear those cookies are the only things keeping me normal after my parents divorce.
Yes, why not just tell you guys and get it over with? My parents divorced just last year and it has taken a toll on me. Trust me I was furious when they sat me down and told me the horrifying news. My dad being the soft lovable person he is, made sure I knew it wasn't my fault for their divorce. In all honesty I believed it was. I mean I did cause them great troubles for my behavior in school. It started a lot of arguments between them, making living with them a bit harder. I knew what I was doing was doing harm to this family but I guess at the time I just needed attention.
"Taylor" my dad called from downstairs. I could tell the moment I entered that room my life was changing for the worse. " Honey, your mother and I would like to tell you something." Dad said. I looked over to my mother, who was trying hard not to look me in my eyes. Did I do something wrong? Is all I can think of. She had this emotion in her face that I couldn't quite place. Worry? Regret? I didn't know for sure.
Clearing his throats my father said " Your mother and I are getting a divorced. Before you can say anything, I would like you to know that this isn't your fault. We love you. Nothing you do can make us stop loving you and make us stop loving each other." "So why did you?" I croaked out, trying hard to keep my sobs from tearing out from me.
Sighing, my father took my hand and begin to explain. What he said broke my heart, and what my mother said afterwards tore me to shreds.
What will I do now? Is the only question that crossed my mind after sitting down with my parents. It still is the only question I have a year later.
