Chapter 26: Family Part 1

Timothy's POV:

I see the young man named Shane Daniels walk away from view. He must be a relative of Marnie's. I came to visit because Poke lives here now and I want to make sure she's ok. Marnie wants to make it a surprise for her, and apparently she wants to tell me something... I wonder what though? I drive to the ranch and pull up, making sure to look around to not hit anything. I park and walk with Angelica, my wife, to the door.

I knock on the door and it opens. A little girl with very dark purple hair opens the door. "U-Umm... Hello?" I look at the young girl and kneel down a little bit so I'm eye to eye with her. "Hi there little one. Is Marnie home?" The girl looks at me for a bit then nods. "Yes... But who are you?" "My name is Timothy. I'm a good friend of Marnie's." Then Angelica walks up to Jas, "Hello there sweetie. My name is Angelica, I'm Timothy's wife." The girl smiles at us. "It's nice to meet you Mr. Timothy and Mrs. Angelica! My name is Jas!" Then I see Marnie coming through a door and she sees me talking to Jas. She yells out to Angelica and I. "Timothy! Angelica! You're here! Come in! Come in!"

She walks up to the doorway and lets us come in. We go into the living room and she speaks again, "Sit down you two. It's been so long! I see you've already met Jas." She ruffles her hair and I ask Marnie a question. "Is she your daughter?" Marnie laughs a little, "No, she's my nephew's goddaughter. We all live together here." Marnie looks at Jas with a smirk, "Jas can you keep a secret for me. You can't even tell Uncle Shane or Poke." So Jas knows Poke, and Shane must be her godfather. Jas nods ad smiles at Marnie. "Well Jas, Timothy and Angelica are Poke's parents! They're going to visit Poke for a few days as a surprise!" Jas giggles and smiles at all of us. What a cute girl... Marnie speaks at Jas again. "Ok Jas, you can go play outside, but be careful, ok?" "Ok Aunt Marnie!" Jas gives her a hug and leaves with a jump rope.

Marnie turns to Angelica and I. "Well, I know you both already know about what happened to Eliza and Poke..." Poke was abused and forced into a relationship and Eliza was killed by Poke's boyfriend in front of her... "Yes, we have heard..." "I wanted to make sure you were ok and knew about it... I'm glad you two seem ok as can be." She breathes in and talks again, "But on a lighter note I want to ask you two a question. Have either of you heard of Lil' S?"

Angelica and I both nod. We heard about him when Poke was 7 and Eliza was 9. It was also because of him I had to tell Poke cooties weren't real... Eliza liked him a lot and I was worried. But why is Marnie bringing it up? "Well, Poke figured out his real name. There's also pictures of him and other pictures. Marnie brings us to a bedroom and across a desk are photos of when Poke and Eliza were small. There was a photo of Poke in the arms of a boy with dark purple hair and another of Poke and the same boy trying to dance. Then there was a photo of Eliza in the foreground and the boy in the background. "The boy with purple hair is Lil' S, and Lil' S is my nephew, Shane."

I feel kind of a twinge of anger that this happened when Poke was just 7. Now Poke is 25 and Eliza would have been 27... I ask a question about Shane, "How old is Shane?" "He recently turned 29 last spring." He's not that much older than Poke... "Are you going to keep asking random questions about him Timothy, or can I get to the point?" I sigh, there's not much I'm going to do with random information about him. "You can get to the point Marnie." Marnie smiles and looks back at the pictures. "Shane and Poke have met and become friends. Shane doesn't warm up to people easily so it surprised me. But something an even more surprising feeling is in him now..." I question her, "Where are you getting at Marnie?" "Hold your horses Timothy! Let me get to it!" She breathes in and looks at Angelica and I seriously.

"Shane has fallen in love with Poke." I think for a moment and think to myself,

Someone's going to be in pain if he even thinks about doing it with my daughter.
