Hey, Diary. This might be one of my last or perhaps my last entry! It's kind of scary how fast this year has gone by! Anyway the Battle of the Bands was tonight along with some other pretty interesting events. It's currently way past midnight, but I don't want to forget a thing!
In full Will costume I arrived at school for rehearsals Friday night. I saw Greyson in the hall by himself having a heated conversation on the phone.
"Okay, okay. Chill. I know what I have to do. Get off my back, man! Yes, I know I'm right! I don't even know how people haven't noticed yet! Everything's ready for tomorrow. Okay. Bye." he sighed and continued toward the auditorium.
I was very suspicious, but I didn't want to alert him of my presence so I took an alternate route to the auditorium. I was intercepted in front of the band room and was dragged inside. The room was dark except for a lit lighter held in Ryder's hand. Mikey plopped me down in a chair and Ryder shoved the lighter toward me anytime I'd try to get up.
Chris emerged from the darkness and rested his hands on either arm of the chair, getting up in my face. "Hello, Lion."
"What? I don't know what you're talking about!" I tried to sound convincing, but I knew the shakiness in my voice crept through.
"Do you really think I'm an idiot? Letting a sixth member into Seconds of Silence to double the size of MY BAND! And not just any sixth member! Rory's convenient cousin who just happens to play the exact same instrument as her and have those same bewitching eyes behind dull contacts!"
"Bewitching? I knew you were weird, but Rory never told me you had a thing for her." I smirked.
"DON'T CHANGE THE SUBJECT!" he yelled, pacing in and out of firelight. "You are going to look like such an idiot tomorrow once my plan is complete. Then who will rescue you from your embarrassment, Lion?" He once again came close to me. "I think we both know the answer." He began pacing again. "I've changed school after school trying to fit in, trying to find the place where I belong. If it hadn't been for this school and this band and you... Why am I telling you this? Anyway, you get the picture."
"I still am extremely confused. Can I go now fire boy?" I asked Ryder.
"Sure. Leave. BUT remember. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer!" Chris said cryptically. Ryder blew out the lighter and Mikey shoved me out the door.
I gulped and proceeded to band practice.
"Will! Where were you?" Langston said with concern.
"Oh, sorry. Got lost." I joined them up on stage. They were all set up with Charlotte's brother James fixing sound in the back.
"Yeah, Will," James commented loudly through the speakers and winked at me.
"Alright. So each band gets to play four songs in a set. We're going to have three completely awesome and mind blowing songs from all the best bands. The fourth will be our original song, 'Dysfunction.' Thanks to all of you for helping. Especially Will, who swooped in and helped me put the finishing touches on the song. Now the set list-" Langston swept his hair out of his eyes and listed the songs. "Let's go!"
All the guys played excellent as usual, and I did my best to keep up. The new song was fantastic! It started off all dark and slow with a lot of piano and violin before building up to a killer bass line and riff. J said it was the hardest song he's played on drums for a while, but was "epic."
When practice ended and everyone started to pack up I took Langston aside. We went behind the curtain and I looked over his shoulder to see if anyone was listening.
