Lexis pov

I walked to the Shepard house because that's where kaylin lives. I was a lil' bit afraid of her brothers. I've heard of the stuff they've done. just thinking about it gives me the creeps.

I walked up the porch and knocked on the door. Curly answered.

"Hey is kaylin home?" he looked like he just woke up.

"No I thought she was with you." He was starting to get worried. kaylins brothers worry about her a lot.

"Don't worry curly I'll go look for her." he looked a lil' relieved but not quite.

"Thanks lexi, bring her right home I have to talk to her." now I was a lil' scared for her. kaylin might act tuff but she ain't really.

I walked down the porch in search for kaylin. she could be anywhere, she likes to wander a lot so I'm not surprised.

I seen soda outside playing football with the gang. aww he looks so cute. then he looked my way. He started walking over to me.

"Hey lex" I blushed at the nickname he gave me.

"Hey soda havin' fun?"

"Yeah! I love football!"

"We'll I'm glad but I have to go."

"What are you doin'"

"I'm lookin' for Kaylin she's been gone ever since yesterday"

"Johnny was the last to hang with kaylin maybe he knows" I got excited.

"Where's Johnny!?!?"

"Right over there I'll get him for you, Johnny!" soda yelled, Johnny came running up to us.

He just waved. He doesn't all much and I know why. damn I hate socs.

"Do you know where kaylin is!?" I asked frantically, he nodded "can you tell me?" He looked at soda and pulled me away from him.

"Ok, we where walking around town and I took her to the DX and Steve saw her and asked if we where dating and I said no, kaylin looked hurt when I said that and then she said she had to leave then left, and now I feel like an idiot because I really like kaylin." I had to take a moment to process this all.

"So you don't know where she is?" he shook his head. I groaned in frustration.

"C-can I help look for her I need to make things right."

"Sure lets go" we started walking along the road, it was very awkward. Finally Johnny spoke up.

"I didn't mean to hurt her feelings I just didn't think she liked me like that. Plus I don't hang around girls often so I don't know how to act around them."

"Johnny it's ok kaylin will understand once you explain."

"A-are you sure?"

"I'm positive."

"Thanks Lexi it's really nice to talk it out with someone." I just smiled.

"So how long have you and soda been a thing?"

"He just asked me out yesterday actually."

"Oh wow"

"Yeah..." It was an awkward silence again.

"How long have you and kaylin been friends?" Johnny asked.

Me and kaylin have been friends since preschool. how about you and ponyboy joe long have you guys been friends?"

"We'll I was actually with two bit when he took me to another friends house and we just started hanging out there."

"Oh cool"

We've been looking since noon and still no sign of Kay. just then I had an idea.

"Maybe she's in the lot we used to always hang there"

"Ok the lot isn't far from here."

we finally got to the lot and seen this lump in the middle of the field. I ran to it hoping it was. what surprised me was that it was kaylin but she had tear streaks on her face from crying. I've never seen kaylin cry, ever. she was the tuff one in the group. I got angry and looked over at Johnny.

He looked so sad. I started to shake Kay trying to wake her up.

"Kaylin wake up" she didn't move.

"Kaylin wake up" I said a lil' louder and shook her harder but she still didn't wake up. there was only one more thing to do. I screamed very loud witch make kaylin and Johnny to jump.

"Why'd you scream!?"

"Because you weren't waking up!"

"We'll you knows I'm a heavy sleeper!"

"Who cares why where you out here all by yourself you scared us to death!"

"Us?" she looked over at Johnny and she quickly looked away. Johnny looked at me with a 'please leave' face so I got up and sat under a tree.

Johnny's pov

"Kaylin just let me explain" she turned her back to me.

"What is there to explain you don't like me the way I like you." My heart stopped because I did like her I was just too afraid to tell her.

"Kaylin I do like you I was just really scared." She turned to face me.

"Scared of what?"

"Scared that you didn't like me the way I like you." She then realized what I was saying.

"J-Johnny you really feel that way about me?"

"Well......"
