Keep in mind...I wrote this at 1am. It may not be great, but I had this story running through my head, especially with this song. I have been through this struggle. I still have it EVERY DAY. Sometimes...all you need is someone to be there for you.

Once an addict, always an addict...

That saying has run through the brilliant consulting detectives head for years. Mainly, he has strayed away from the evilness of the drugs he once was addicted to. Nicotine was one. He had always had a nicotine addiction. But, that he could sustain from the patches. His addiction to the dangerous line of work he was in was another story. That was what kept him off the drugs for so long. He got the same rush as the drugs gave him when he was on a case. Strange...yes. But, no one would ever call Sherlock Holmes normal.

Sherlock was alone...again. Alone in his flat, bored again. He had solved a couple of cold cases for Lestrade, and was waiting for more, but it had been three days. John was away for conference for the surgery. Sherlock didn't want him to go, but he knew it was a huge opportunity for his blogger, so he said nothing.

****Flashback****

"Sherlock? Are you sure you're ok with this?" John asked, for what seemed like the hundredth time.

Sherlock rolled his eyes. "Yes. Its fine. Why do you keep asking?"

"I dont mean to. I just want to make sure you will be ok," John said, continuing to pack his suitcase.

"Yes, but I am a grown man, John. I can take care of myself," Sherlock insisted.

"I do feel better that Mrs. Hudson is just a shout away," John said.

"Oh, for Gods sake...It. Is. Fine.," Sherlock said, even though he wasnt fine with it...he didn't want John to leave.

"Whatever you say. Well, that should be it. My train leaves in an hour. I stocked up on everything yesterday, so you should be alright for awhile. I made sure there was money in the house account, just in case. Oh, and I cleaned one of your experiments that you said had spoiled, since you refused to do it, and--," John explained, but Sherlock chuckled.

"You act like you are leaving a teenager home alone for the weekend," Sherlock teased.

"You act like a teenager, Sherlock. Now, I'll have my mobile with me all the time, so if you need me, just shoot me a text," John said, heading downstairs, with Sherlock behind him.

"Why would I need you?" Sherlock teased again.

"Oh, no reason at all. Ok, then. I better be off. I see Mycroft has sent a car. I guess that makes it easier than calling a cab," John said. He smiled at his best friend.

"Mycroft is paranoid," Sherlock said, dismissively.

"Just a little. Ok, ill text when I get settled then," John said. Suddenly, Sherlock felt a pang in his heart and hugged John with everything he had. "Oomph! You act like im leaving forever," John teased, hugging Sherlock back.

"You better not," Sherlock said, seriously.

"And leave all this? Not in a million years. See you," John said, smiling again. Sherlock loved to see John smile. It literally lit him up inside...he would never admit to it, but felt it all the same.

"See you," Sherlock said in return. They always said see you to each other, rather than Goodbye. 'Goodbye' meant it was permanent.

****End of Flashback****

Sherlock felt like he was going crazy. He never needed anyone else in his entire life...so why did he need John? Why did he feel like he needed the Doctor to feel like he could even breathe? He needed to get the hell out of that flat, before he drove himself even crazier than he already was. Everything in there reminded him of John...everything. He stood up and walked to the front door and put on his coat and scarf. He walked down the street a bit, not really heading anywhere. Just walking. And thinking...his mind seemed to be running rampant. He wanted it to stop. John made it calmer at least...manageable. Something pulled inside him, heading him down a street he hadnt been down in a long...LONG time.
