PROLOGUE
I opened the door, yelling to my mom "I'll be home tomorrow, maybe"
"Don't 'maybe' me, Tarrin." She said sternly. "You will be home tomorrow."
"We'll see." I popped my head back in the door and said, then I walked out and didn't give her time to reply.
I walked to my car and got in the driver's side. "Having a car is pretty convenient" I mumbled to myself.
My mom was so inconciderate. I was leaving to get away from her. She just doesn't get it that I need my space. She tries to stop me which isn't the best idea since I have my own car and places I can go to at any point in time. She just feels the need to constantly bug me about things. Like this whole fight we just had was about me not having a dinner on the table when she got home from work. She never asked me to or told me it was manditory to do it so I didn't.
I got my phone out and shot a text to Reece, my best friend. "Hey, come hang out??" But got no reply. I drove to the park, got out of the car and slowly walked myself to the swings. I stared at the ground for a few minutes and just taking in all the breezy air. It was finally getting to be spring. Not cold but not hot either. It was my favorite time of the year. I walked over to a swing and sat down on it, slightly pushing off the ground to gain air. I really got into a thinking zone when I was alone. Its like everything suddenly bombarded me. Feelings that I didn't even know I had came to me. After getting into that zone anything could scare me and thats exactly what happens all the time. My swing stopped and a pair of hands went over my eyes. I had a mini panic attack until I heard the person say "Guess who" Then I instantly knew it was Reece.
"You asshole!" I smile and jumped off the swing and wrapped my arms around him. "I thought you were ignoring me!"
"How could I ignore that cute face??" He said hugging me back tightly. He let go of me to squeeze my cheeks.
I faught it by smiling so big he had barely any skin to grab. "Stop that, dork. How would you like it if I did that to you??"
"I mean, well, I probably wouldn't min--" I cut him off before he could finish by grabbing his cheeks and squeezing them. "Okay, I would mind. " He laughed
"I told you!" I gave him that 'I told you so' look. "So how did you know I was here, since all I said was come hang out??" I asked him, cause it honestly made me curious.
"Silly girl, I know you. I know that when you're vague about stuff that usually means you're upset. When you're upset you come to the park." He seen me looking down and lifted my face up lightly so I was looking up at him. "Now, what's wrong?"
"Wow, you actually do pay attention to me. My mom is just being rediculous again, Reece. I need to find a way to get out of my house. Do you think I could stay with you for a while??"
Reece was 18, and I was only 16. He lived in an appartment with 2 bedrooms and he was the only one living there. I hoped he wouldn't mind me asking. Which I didn't think he would mind since he was my bestfriend and all and he loves to spend time with me, but it's Reese. You never know with him. He's about as indecisive as me. Or not, I don't think it's possible to be as indecisive as me.
Reece acted like he was thinking, and looked all serious "Well, Tarrin... Here's the thing... " My face got all sad before he could finish. He finished by smiling and saying "I'd be honored to have my bestfriend live with me." I look up at him with a playfully mad face.
"You're not funny" I exclaimed, trying to keep a straight face. Reese gave me that pouty face he knew I hated. "Stop! You know that look makes you look like a lost puppy and it makes me just wanna take you home. " I laughed
He kept doing it and I turned away and crossed my arms. He picked me up over his shoulders and started carrying me away. "Let's go, dork. "
I just let it happen. "I feel like a princess, kind of." I kind of chuckled to myself. "But where are we going exactly?"
He carried on walking with me still on his shoulder "We're going back to my place until tonight."
"What's tonight?" I asked curiously.
He stopped and put me down. "We're gonna sneak into your room and pack your stuff. Cause I know how your mom is and she would never be cool with you just staying at my house, so we have to do it in a way that she won't know."
I looked up at him, kind of skeptical about this plan. "But what if she wakes up, and catches us packing my stuff?" I asked.
"Good question..." He paused "We hide??"
I let some things process in my mind. "I got it!" I blurted out.
"What's the plan, Tarbear." He said with a smile.
Still walking, I smiled back at him. "If we hear her coming you either hide in my closet behind my clothes, or you gracefully and quietly jump through my window. Your choice" I laughed.
"I think I'll gracefully and quietly jump through your window." He said sarcastically.
