12: 15 AM

"Almost didn't recognize you with that get up of yours." smiled the guy who had been manning the door, someone yet again that had been previously associated with Matty. Tori couldn't help but snicker--it was ridiculous, after all; the fact Matty shamelessly wore the cheap pair of sunglasses he'd bought, which had made him look like John Lennon with an undercut. It wasn't very useful in trying to convey his identity; as it had earlier tonight been discovered by a couple of teenagers when he was catching a smoke while Tori was inside Vigne conversing with Pierre. If anything, he wanted to spend the night as normally as possible--he'd left his identity as a somewhat famous band's lead singer hours ago. As fair as he was concerned, tonight in Tori's company, he wasn't Matty Healy of the 1975.

Just Matty.

12:20 AM

"Will you be my girlfriend for like 5 minutes?" Matty whispered into Tori's ear as they approached the door; he felt his heart race as he uttered those words, as if he was going to ask her to be in a relationship with him.

"What?" Tori snickered

Matty put his arm around her waist again as they walked towards the door, "Come on, just play along." He felt Tori shrug, which relieved him slightly as it had been a sign that she technically agreed.

"Out with a lady tonight, are we?" said the guy again, Tori only processing his thick cockney accent just then. Matty looked down at her and back at the guy, "Not just any lady." he said, "My lady." The guy manning the door held it open for them--god, Tori thought, what the hell is his name? "Well then, you and your new girlfriend enjoy yourselves inside." With a nod of his head and a smile, they were in.

Matty snaked his arm around Tori's waist again; in case she'd ask why, he had a number of excuses-- including, but not limited to: looking the part as people in a relationship, keeping her from falling over, taking a precautionary measure so as not to lose each other...et cetera. Being part of the female species, of course Tori noticed his arm around her again and surprisingly didn't mind. Who was she to decline?

"Girlfriend, really?" she teased; normally, she would barely allow a guy she'd just met to remain this close to her in terms of contact...but she figured that since it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend the night in the arms of a cute front man for an insanely talented band--who she was likely never to see again, she wasn't in a place to be picky.

"I call it making use of our resources."

"This is Girls by The 1975"

Tori looked up at Matty in amusement as the band that night began covering the song, she tried to sound her best for her part as his faux girlfriend by saying, "Hey babe, it's your song." Matty scowled slightly and returned Tori's teasing with his own, much lamer tease, "No babe, it's ours." he smiled after, "care to dance?"
At first Tori blinked twice at the hand Matty had offered her; but eventually rolled her eyes as she took it, "Elias can wait a bit, right?"
And together, they mockingly danced like the teenagers that surrounded them and their 21st century dances...which was mainly fist pumping at all the wrong times and dancing like fools. Eventually, Matty decided to pull Tori close; one hand resting on her waist and the other keeping one of hers safe. They continued to move with the music, being generous of smiles to one another. And although the music had stopped and Elias was once again their priority, Matty had made it a point to continuously keep her hand in his.

1:00 - 2:00 AM

It had taken them half an hour to scour the entire club for Elias. They had encountered a couple of queers which made them stay a tad longer due to their shameless conversational skills; Tori described what Elias had been wearing and Matty asked if he'd been seen, maybe even heard. There was one of them that tried to flirt with Matty, replying with, "I can be Elias if you want me to be."

Slightly exhausted, Matty casually asked if she was willing to take a break. Thankfully, Tori had agreed and they took their places on the sidewalk by McAllister's. She hadn't felt the exhaustion until she sat down and took a rest and though exhausted, she was thankful that Matty had been in her company all throughout the search.
They seemed like middleschoolers out on a first date as they observed each other's shoes, pretended to find images in the stars and played a game of whoever spotted the most drunk people. Matty was sure that the couple leaving the bar would be his ticket to victory, but instead, he had overheard their slurred conversation.

"Call me?" said the girl

"Definitely. Let's go catch coffee some time." replied the guy

Matty rolled his eyes, getting up as he continued to watch the couple until they disappeared from his sight. He turned to Tori, who was now standing as well.

"Teenagers, these days." Matty shook his head, "They haven't the slightest idea that life's too short to drink crappy coffee and cry over boys who don't care. I kind of pity her because of what she's in for these coming days."

"How do you know he's not going to call her?" Tori asked as they strolled down the sidewalk, "Simple." Matty replied, "It's a guy euphemism for 'yeah, totally not doing this again.'

"It's amazing how much faith she has in him...I mean, how can she tell if it's love or just a fling?" shrugged Tori, "What if he actually means it?"

"Love can be total bull, sometimes. It's complicated as fuck, you get into the deepest shit because of it...but if you still want that person by your side through all of those things...that's when you know." Said Matty, a little amused as he felt as though he was explaining what love was to his younger brother. Tori nodded as they kept walking,

"I guess Elias and Philip are pretty lucky then."

"And you?" Matty asked, pushing his Lennon glasses down his nose to see whatever expression she may have on her face. Her face remained its casual, lax expression with a subtext of the fact she had a good discernment of the question. And she had thought of it well; she decided that because of the fact that this night--with Matty, dancing with him, driving around together...was probably never going to happen again, she answered truthfully.

"Well, I haven't found that person yet. And it's probably because I'm not very good at staying, myself." Replied Tori with as much nonchalance as she had when he first put his arm around her waist.

"Why is that, then?"

"Maybe it's because I believe in limits more than love." she shrugged and because she felt a certain discomfort in talking about herself, there were wrinkles evident on her forehead as she furrowed her eyebrows, "I mean, everything's gotta end. Like tonight...It's like a freeway, somewhere in there, our paths cross but in the end--which in this case is when the sun rises or when we find Elias, we go back our own ways."

Matty bit the inside of his cheek; it somewhat stung, knowing that she had accepted the fact that their worlds would go on turning even after tonight--with or without each other in it. He had to ask himself if he was being too sentimental that evening as Tori had already decided that tonight was just another one she'd brush off. His demeanor changed slightly as he quickly recognized the fact he didn't wish to speak to Tori for the time being.

He turned back, and started walking to the car. "Where are you going?" asked Tori as she caught up with him. Barely looking back at her, he replied with the same dull expression he had with a hint of annoyance, "The sooner we find Elias, the sooner the night'll be over."

Noticing the change in his intonation, Tori asked, "Hey, are you okay?"

He turned back at her with a sullen look, and though he hadn't meant anything he was thinking, it came out pouring like lyrics had when he was in a writing mood.
"Yeah. I just think it's time the freeway gets going."
