~~~Link's PoV~~~
The next morning, I woke up around seven. I was still pretty tired. Dark had told me his shift was starting early today so I probably wouldn't see him this morning. Since it was seven, I had a few hours to work on schoolwork.
I had managed to type an additional four pages on my paper for Mr.Hyll's class before I had to leave for work. I changed into my work clothes- a black button down, long sleeve shirt and black pants with black dress shoes- and headed to work.
I'd always found my job's dress code to be annoying, but I did work at a high end restaurant. The dress code for waiters and waitresses was simply to enhance the atmosphere.
Once I got to work, my boss was already mad at me. He had hated me since my first day on the job so it wasn't a surprise he had something to gripe about. He was a stocky man with broad shoulders, but I had a few inches on him. If he was taller than me, I think I'd be a bit scared of him, considering his mere presence already intimidated me.
"Y'er late!" He shouted at me. My boss was very shouty. I can't even recall a time where he wasn't yelling. "Keep this act up and y'er fired!"
I nodded in apology. "Sorry, sir." I said.  I couldn't afford to lose my job. Dark's job was barely enough to cover bills and most of my paycheck went towards things like food, textbooks, and repairs. Without my income, we probably wouldn't even be able to afford take-out pizza.
The lunch rush was just starting so the restaurant was busy. I headed over to a table. "Hello guys, I'm Link and I'll be your for server today. Can I start you off with something to drink?" I said enthusiastically. I looked at the people sitting at the table.
Great, I thought as I took out my pocket book, Zelda is here. It didn't matter who was eating, I had to keep up the happy waiter act. One more mess-up and I could lose my job. If I didn't get enough tips, I'd also be screwed.
"I think I'll have a pink lemonade." Zelda said as she avoided eye contact by staring at a menu.
Zelda's friend, Sheik, took a glance at the menu. "I'll have a sprite." He said.
I scribbled it down quick. "And would you like any appetizers?"
"No thanks." Zelda said.
I nodded and headed to get their drinks. Keeping a happy attitude was going to be hard with Zelda around. She was probably the last person I'd want to deal with right now. I'd rather confront my boss or Professor Hyll.
I came back to the table with their drinks. "Are you ready to order yet or do you need another minute?" I asked, trying my best to keep a cheerful facade.
Sheik looked up from his menu. "Can we get another minute please?"
I nodded and tended to another table. One table was making my job a living hell. It was a family of nine, most of which couldn't be any older than 14. Of course, the younger children ordered kids meals with about a million extras like 'Oh no cheese on that' and 'extra salt on the fries please'. The older ones ordered about the most complicated things they could get. On top of that, they were pretty rude.
I came back to Zelda's table. "Are you ready to place an order yet?" I asked. Luckily, they were ready and ordered simple things without all the personal customization they could find.
I took the order back to the kitchen and continued doing my job. For some reason, all of my tables were just dreadful to serve. All of them had things that just made me want to shout 'Fuck this bullcrap' to their face.
The food for the large table came up. I hated serving large families, as it required balance and coordination to get the food out to them. One of the kids sitting at the table before them decided it would be really funny to trip me, causing four or five trays to fall to the ground with an attention drawing shatter.
The large family was (needless to say) pissed. They left without even getting their meals and just paid for the few that weren't ruined. I headed back to the kitchen to get Zelda and Sheik's food, but I was halted by my boss.
"What was 'at?!" He shouted at me. Just great, I thought, I'm probably going to loose my job thanks to that bastard kid.
"S-sorry, Sir." I stuttered, "A kid tripped m-"
"'At's the oldest excuse in the book! Finish y'er shift and meet me afterwards."
I frowned slightly and nodded. My boss wouldn't even let me run home quick to change, so I had to complete my shift in my clothes that were covered in spaghetti sauce, ketchup, and soup broth.
I took the food out to Zelda and Sheik's table. "Here you are, guys." I said, sounding as happy as I could. Sheik snickered at my messy shirt. Zelda still avoided eye contact.
My shift seemed to drag on for hours. Once I finished my shift, I headed to my boss's office. "You wanted to see me?" I hesitantly asked. I was pretty sure I knew what he wanted to talk about.
"Link, y'er not doin' so well wit' this waiter job. Y'er fired." He said, a harshness in his words.
I nodded as he handed me a pink slip. I shoved it in my pocket and headed back to the apartment. Dark was already home. He looked up from his phone. "What happened to you?" He asked, gesturing to the stains on my shirt.
I sighed. "Some kid tripped me." I said, taking off my shoes. "I'm gonna go take a shower quick."
I went to the bathroom, locking the door behind me. I undressed, turning on the shower. The water, as always, was barely warm. If you were to take anything longer than a ten minute shower, it'd be like standing in freezing rain.
I washed the scent of restaurant off my body. What was I going to tell Dark? I leaned against the wall of the shower, letting the water soak me. It was hard enough to get by, but now minus one paycheck. I sighed.
I got out of the shower when the water turned into liquid ice shards. I dried off and headed to my room, a towel wrapped around my waist. I got dressed in a tee shirt and a pair of green basket ball shorts, grabbing the pink slip from the pocket of my dress pants.
"Hey, Dark." I nervously said. Dark looked up from his phone, then set it down on the table. He gave me that 'hm?' kind of look. "I sorta...got fired..." I continued hesitantly.
"What? How!" He asked, sounding slightly pissed.
"Some kid tripped me while I was delivering a huge order and my boss had it and he fired me." I explain, shifting my weight around on my heels like I always did when I was nervous.
"Damn..." Dark said. He patted his hand on the couch, signalling for me to sit next to him. I took a seat by his side. Dark hugged me close to him.
I had to admit, I liked when Dark hugged me. Our relationship was weird, especially on my end. Since middle school my friends always called me bisexual. I guess the label got to me. I actually wouldn't mind a gay relationship, and since I started living with Dark gave me some romantic feelings toward him...
