Okay so it's Wednesday, and I'm getting ready for the dinner with Jakes family. Jake said he could come to New York with me, which I'm so grateful for, I don't think I could've gone without his company. Its Christmas break next week and I couldn't be more relieved to get detention over with.

I hear my phone go off and see that Jake is calling, "yea?" I answer, "Hey, Gracie! I'm outside right now. You ready?" I start running around trying to find my shoes, and I trip, "Yes I'm ready just give me a minute!" I say, "Um...are you okay? Did you fall?" He asked sounding amused, I could practically hear the smirk on his lips. "psh...no! I just dropped my phone!" I found my shoes and put them on after I hung up with him.

I walked up to his truck and got in, "Hey." I smiled, "Hey, you look gorgeous as always." He says with a wink, and I blush, curse blushing, I should be used to Jake by now! I think to my self. "You don't look to bad yourself." I say after I regain my composure, I couldn't stop thinking about the other night, when Jake asked me to be his girlfriend, do I wanna be his girlfriend? Or should I just cut the whole thing off? Maybe it would be better, neither of us would end up hurt in the end, we're about to go to college, maybe it would be for the best. But the thing is, I want him. I want Jake but I'm scared that something will happen and we won't be close anymore, and thats the last thing I want to happen.

"So," Jake stretched out, gaining my attention, "so." I chuckled, amusedly. "Lilly is so excited to see you, you're all she's been talking about." He says beaming, I haven't saw Lilly in a while, I just realized, I really missed that cutie, "I misses her to, she's the cutest thing I've ever met." I said sweetly. "You haven't seen how she treats me, Gracie, it's terrible! She's a monster!" He says, actually sounding scared, making me laugh.

I started thinking about Mr and Mrs Davidson. I was suddenly really nervous to see them now, I dont know why, they're really polite people from what I've seen and heard, but, now that me and Jake have gotten closer, I dont know what to think about it.

"What do your parents think about me, Jake?" I ask nervously, he gets this dark look over his face, and I do not like it, he looks like he could kill a person, "My mom loves you." He says tightly gripping the wheel, I knew what was coming, "but," he sighs, "but my dad. It's not that he doesn't like you, it's that he thinks I should be more "realistic" about who I'm with and thinks I should wait till college, not that I'm going to listen to him." He says, I was disappointed that his dad wasn't very fond of me, but he might warm up to me, eventually, wait, did he tell his parents we were a thing?! As if he could read my mind, Jake says, "Don't worry, Gracie, I didnt tell them we were together, I'm not that kind of guy, you know that, he says. I just smile gratefully at him and nod.

"We're here!" He parks in front of his house. We get out and the first thing I see is a screaming Lilly, "Gracie!! Oh my gosh I miss you!!" She squeals and I squeal with her and run towards her while she jumps in my arms. "I missed you to, Lills!" I say enthusiastically, she can really brighten someone's day with her cheeriness, it's adorable.

"Grace, darling!" I hear a woman's voice say, I look up and see Jakes mom at their front door, I smile, "Hey, Mrs. Davidson." I say happily. "Oh please, I feel like we're on a first name basis by now, call me  Victoria!" She said kindly, making me feel a little more at home. "Okay!" Victoria claps her hands together and says, "let's have dinner!"

We all walk in and have a seat while Victoria went to go get Mr. Davidson. "Where's the restroom?" I ask Jake, he smirks at me knowingly, "Down the hall to the left." I mutter a 'thanks' and went down the hall. When I was done I washed my hands and opened the door, I heard muttering a little further down the opposite way from the dining room. I know I shouldn't have but my curiosity got the better of me, I went further down the hall and soon the muttering was clear.

"Victoria, I don't want that girl being involved with Jake! All she's going to do is distract him from college!" He says firmly but I could hear the hint of anger in his voice, "Levi, leave that poor girl out of this, you're being to hard on Jake. Let him have this, he's never talked to just one girl, I'm telling you, this one's special to him." she said in a tone that told even me, that Levi wasn't going to be able to talk her out of this. He sighs, "Whatever," he mumbles "but, if this girl gets in the way of college, he's breaking it off." He says dismissedly. Did Mr. Davidson not like me that much, or is he just super sensitive when it comes to college? I thought to myself.

I finally came back to reality and silently and awkwardly ran into the kitchen and sat back down, "Hey? What took you so long? Are you okay, you look flushed." He stated. "I'm fine." I say quickly, his parents walks in so he just gives me a weird look.

"Hello, Grace." Mr. Davidson nods his head my way and I smile politely, "Hey Mr. Davidson." This is gonna be a long night.

"So, you and Jake are going to New York next week to see your father?" Victoria says and I nod shyly, "I hope you don't mind, but its just, I would really like him to come with me, as a friend." I added quickly, making Jake laugh slightly.

The whole night consisted of awkward, short conversations that I hope to never relive again.

  The dinner is finally over!
