7:56am. The sky was dark, completely clear of clouds yet the sun was nowhere to be seen. It had been raining all night- the pavement I walked on still wet. I was alone like always, some things never changed. I tightened my jacket around me as the cold breeze hit me, I grabbed my earphones and blasted some music. Blocking everything around me out.

It was currently my second day in New York and my first day of Secondary School or High school. It was alright I guess, the weather was the same in England too. I moved around a lot, originally born in England although I had been living alone in the states for a year now. I was trying to avoid New York for obvious reasons- superheroes; Spider-Man to be specific. Although fate decided I belonged here, it was dangerous but I would have to be careful. I shrugged my shoulders, why was I thinking about this? I rolled my eyes as I pulled my bag up. But the uncomfortable feeling of somebody staring right at me already had me nervous and looking suspicious.

I turned my head around slowly, trying hard not to make it obvious. My eyes automatically fell upon two people who were on the other side of the road. As I looked closer, I realised I had found the source of the uncomfortable feeling. A tall guy stared at me intensely- his skin was pale like he hadn't seen the sun in a while, his untrimmed honey hair pushed back neatly; he had these grey eyes that pierced into me. He stared at me as if I had done something so bad to him, his face had no emotion but his eyes held a lot. Anger, suspicious and interest. He looked away as he shoved his large hands into the pockets of his navy hoodie. I shifted my gaze to his friend who was the complete opposite, he had tan skin and messy black hair. He was unfit and chubby but completely mesmerised in conversation, oblivious to the fact his friend wasn't listening. I sighed heavily before turning my head around quickly. I shouldn't worry, they're just wondering creeps.

I shoved my jacket into my locker, I would have to decorate it- it looked so dull and boring. Though I would probably be moving soon anyways. I grabbed my timetable from my back pocket, it was all crumpled up. I grunted as I looked down at it, it looked way too complicated for me to even be bothered to have a go at figuring it out. I sighed again pushing my hair back in stress. I played around with my locket, hoping somebody would help me out. Truly I was just lazy not stupid.

"Hey are you new?". A high pitched voice spoke breaking me out of my thoughts.

My wish actually came true, I looked up to a girl that was around my height. She had a fresh face and had long black hair that was tied back neatly. She was very skinny, well atleast her legs were. She looked back at me with a gaping smile.

"Yeh I am...". I said quietly taking a slight step back from her, she was awfully close to me.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Cindy!". She said energetically.

She held her hand out to me, I looked down at it and back up at her. I wasn't much of a social person, it gave me anxiety. I grasped her hand nervously.

"I'm Nova, Nova Aiken". I said smiling at her.

I didn't know why I mentioned my last name, I guess I was just use to doing so. Lord I needed to stop judging everything that came out of my own mouth.

"What lessons do you have?". She asked sweetly.

I cleared my throat, looking at her in embarrassment. Shit, I didn't have a clue. I looked down at my timetable anxiously. She walked to my side and looked down at it, still smiling. Thank goodness.
