All I ever wanted was to attend a good college and study journalism. It's hard when you don't have the support you need to achieve your goals. As long as I can remember my life has been nothing but a struggle. From what I was told, I'm just nothing but a mistake child. Mama was a hoe she got pregnant at the age of 16 by some random, anyone of these men on the street can be my father. Mama died 5 months later, she overdosed on pills and alcohol poisoning. Child protective service took me, I've been in 4 different families until the age of 7. I moved around a lot so I didn't have the chance to make any friends.

On my 7th birthday, a white couple named Sophia and Christopher came to the foster home and wanted to adopt a child. It was me and 6 other kids living here. We had to line up in a straight single line, smallest to biggest for the couple to see which kid they want to adopt. I was in the middle and when they got to me, I closed my eyes. They stopped and stared at me for a while then continued to walk. When they were done they walked towards to the supervisor and started talking. I couldn't hear what they were saying but they ended up picking me. This is when I post to be jumping up and down crying tears of joy but it wasn't that moment. In my head, I'm like "Ayanna don't get your hopes nothing ever goes right."

Papers were signed and bags were packed, next thing you know I'm in the backseat of their car on my way to their home. "Are you excited to come home with us Ayanna?" Sophia asked; I didn't answer her, "your going to love your new room I hope you like the color pink," Sophia said, I replied; "Yeah I love pink and purple" the car ride was 30mis long, finally Christopher started to slow down and pulled up into a drive way. "Welcome to your new home Ayanna, you're going to make great memories here I hope," Christopher said.

The house is huge its a sandy brown color with a red door. You can tell the house is up stairs and down stairs. There's a small porch deck in the front with a swing bench. When you walk inside, on your right there's the living room well furnished with a flat screen tv mount to the wall. On your left side is the dining room, dark brown wooden table with 2 chairs on each side and a flower vase with fake flowers inside as the center piece. In front of you, there are stairs that lead you to my room, bathroom, Sophia's and Christopher's room. To get to the kitchen you have to walk through the dining room, the kitchen is big with lots of room to move around in. I took a peek out of the kitchen window and see there's a patio with furniture and stairs going down towards the pool. This house is beautiful, now I'm excited to see my room.

I go up stairs Sophia and Christopher are behind, I see a white door with different color sticker flowers scattered all over. "Close your eyes," Said Christopher, I closed my eyes and waited for them to scream........ "Surprise!" I opened up my eyes, Sophia was right about my room being pink. I have a bed, a desk, lots of Barbie dolls, dress up clothes etc. I ran up to Sophia and Christopher gave them a hug and said "Thank you so much" almost crying. "We have one more surprise for you Ayanna," Said Sophia. Christopher had his hands be hind his back and brought them forward. "Here you go, for," said Christopher, It was my first own Journal. "The supervisor told us that you love to write and you mentioned wanted to be a writer when you grow up, we got you this journal so you can practice writing." Said Sophia. Nobody in my life did or gave me anything before. I gave Sophia and Christopher another hug and said thank you. Later that night I began to write my first Journal entry.
