Luna
I let out a less than eloquent noise as I tumble gracefully to the ground. Stupid bushes! Have they always been there?! My arm hurts a little and I'm caked in mud. A shrill laugh snaps me back to reality. I heave myself into a sitting postion and wipe the mud from my clothes.
"Are you alright, my dear?"
I freeze at the voice. My heart starts hammering against my chest and my palms begin to sweat. I slowly look up to the figure in front of me, their dark clothes eagerly contrasting with the bright colours in the garden surrounding us. It is, undoubtedly, the warlock who kidknapped me not too long ago. It was dark but I will never be able to forget how his presence sent chills up my spine, the same as he is doing now.
I stammer over my words as I shakily stand up. "I, uh, I... Y-yeah."
"Unusual for a werewolf-slash-vampire, the ultime creature of grace and agility, to trip over their own feet like that. I think you've put the circus to shame, Luna."
My voice suddenly comes back to me. "What are you doing here? I have more time to think about what you asked."
"You do," he agrees. "I am merely here to ensure that the correct decision is made."
I squint my eyes at him. "Are you threatening me?"
The warlock laughs and runs a hand through his blonde/brown hair. "Whatever you choose makes no difference to you, silly girl. You will just perish in the war should you choose to say no. It would, however, make a mild difference to my life. I'd have to dispose of Mr. Von Seggrern myself, a rather ghastly business, so I hope you make the right decision, as if to make things less complicated for me."
"Why do you destest him so much?"
The warlock takes a step towards me, he brushes a bit of mud from my shoulder and fixes me with a smile. "We have our differences."
"Do you know what he does? He talks about a boss... Isaiah. Who is he and why did he hire Zane to work for him?"
"My, my, we are full of questions, aren't we? I'll tell you what, Luna, when you agree to helping me out, I'll tell you everything I know about Zane Von Seggrern."
I bite my lip. I'm torn between wanting to know about Zane and trusting a warlock who kidnapped me. "What if you lie to me?"
He smirks. "I will undoubtedly lie to you, mon cher. It is up to you whether or not you are gullible enough to believe the lies against the truth."
I'm really starting to get annoyed by this guy and his cryptic answers! What's wrong with plain old straight forward ones?! "Would you tell me about this supposed "war", first? You tell me about the war, and I'll agree to help you out. Then you tell me about Zane."
The warlock seems impressed. "Very well. I agree to your proposal, although you must promise to keep your end of the bargain."
"I promise." Then another thought occurs to me. "What's your name? You are not Lord Beaumont's friend, I'm smart enough to realise that."
"I have many names, but I think you should call me Lidei." He begins to walk down the path that heads into the forest, not bothering to check if I follow him or not.
I do, of course.
"What you must understand, Luna, is that I have no control over this war. I cannot stop it or leave it, for that matter. It's going to happen, and I'm afraid there's nothing really you can do either."
"Do you know how it starts?"
"I do. Someone very close to you makes a bad decision. But whilst most bad decisions can often be redeemed, this one has deadly consequences. And, unfortunately for the rest of us, they have already made the decision. I feel awfully bad for you, Luna. You're an incredibly smart girl and I'd trust your opinion."
