Imagine being the new girl in Mystic Falls and Stefan takes you out. (PART TWO)**
"Stefan," I said, staring at him in awe, "you really don't have to do this. You showing me around at lunch was enough. You don't have to do all this too."Stefan smiled, shaking his head at me. After he closed the trunk, instead of getting in his car he walked back around to me. I stood at the opening of the passenger side, which Stefan immediately opened for me before taking my bag from my shoulder and throwing it in the boot of his adorable car. I still couldn't fathom why he was being so nice to be on my first day, opening doors for me and whatnot.
"You still don't get it?"
I shook my head, scoffing more at myself than anything. "You're such a nice guy. So compassionate. This has to be why you have so many brownie points to your name."
"I want to take you out," he said. "You. Not just to be polite. You're seriously beautiful and really dorky. I like dorky."
I wanted to hide my face. He really thought I was dorky? I promised myself I would change from being a loser to a cool kid, but that plan obviously didn't get too far if the first day the hot guy saw right through me like I was a perfectly clean glass window. Now how was I going to impress him when he already knew the inner freak I had in me?
"That's not a bad thing," Stefan added, almost as if he wanted to ease my racing thoughts. Still, despite his reassurance, I didn't want to look him in those perfect green eyes he had. The ones I had noticed at lunch, when he was looking at my schedule really close to my face, that change different colors of green sometimes right when I'm looking at them. "It's actually a really good thing."
Instead of replying, I got in the passenger seat of his cute red car. I liked the way the leather felt under my thighs, but hated the way my thighs extended when they laid flat on the seat. They suddenly looked so much bigger than before, making me self-conscious about wearing shorts. Was Stefan going to be disgusted when he saw how fat my thunder thighs really were?
"Who was that girl at lunch?" I asked after we got on the road and established a mutual liking for some old rock music. "The girl that came up to you? She looked pretty... hurt."
Stefan's expression fell. He looked much more disturbed. When he got in the car and slid his key in the ignition, he didn't even care how large my thighs looked. In fact, he looked over at me and smiled even wider like he was the one who was lucky to be with me. If anything, I was the most lucky girl in the world that Stefan was even looking at me, let alone having him open his car door for me and smile like he was in a candy factory.
He cleared his throat. "That was Elena. She's my ex."
My eyes widened. "Oh, shit, sorry. I feel bad for asking about her now."
"No, no, it's fine. I figured I'd have to tell you about her some day," he said, looking over at me occasionally. My brows furrowed in confusion, wondering why his ex-girlfriend was so important to talk to me about. Did that mean he wanted a...relationship with me? Stefan interrupted my racing thoughts when he continued, "She cheated on me with my brother. And now I've realized that we're not good together."
I couldn't stop my mouth from letting profanity fall past my lips. "Holy shit, that sucks." As if my words were funny, Stefan's stoic look turned into a small smile. "I mean, that... That just sucks. I've never been cheated on, so I could never imagine how that felt, but you seem like a really good guy. I don't know what she was thinking."
"I don't know either. But... I don't know. I feel free. Not like I was in jail with her. More like..."
I waited for Stefan to say something, but when he didn't, I offered, "When you get home and take off your pants... That kind of free?"
