Brandon stared across the school yard at the group of punk boys. They all had leather jackets with black pants and some kind of classic rock band shirt. They were all good looking but one stood out to Brandon the most. Mat.
Mat was one of the bad boys of the school, emphasis on the words one of the and hence why he was in the group. While he was in the group, Brandon was on the sidelines with no one. He had no friends and the only person he talked to was his dad, and those conversations never ended well.
Brandon didn't know what he did to deserve this. He had no one to talk to, no friends, barely any family, and had a hopeless crush on one of the bad boys. On top of all that, he was a nerd. Nerds never fit in well. The only time they ever got noticed was by one of the bullies. That never ended well either.
Brandon heard the bell ring, shaking him from his thoughts. He sighed and walked into the school to get to his locker. Number 221B. After he got his books, he turned around and bumped into someone. He didn't have time to answer before he was slammed against the lockers, his books falling from his hands. Brandon opened his eyes and seen Jordan, the school asshole. Jordan always bullied Brandon. For no reason.
He held Brandon by the front of his shirt against the locker. Brandon's weight wasn't a problem to him. He was tiny and thin while Jordan was big and buff. He raised his fist to Brandon and swung it towards his face. It made impact on his left cheek below his eye, knocking his glasses off in the process. Brandon's vision instantly goes blurry. He doesn't see the second hit coming his way but it lands above the first one. Jordan drops his to the ground and kicks him in the ribs, knocking the breath out of the small boy.
"You better be glad that's all I did to you" Jordan sneered. Brandon put his hand over the forming bruise on his face. By then, the bell had already rung which made them late for class. Jordan stalked off in the direction of his class while Brandon walked to the bathroom. He looked in the mirror and while everything was blurry, he could still make out a big bruise covering half of the left side of his face.
Brandon sighed and went to his class. He didn't care if he was late, it wasn't his fault anyway.
Brandon opened the door slowly and walked in, hoping the teacher wouldn't notice but luck wasn't on his side today. The teacher cleared her throats and wrote something down on a pink slip. Brandon knew what it was. A detention slip. He sighed and grabbed it before making his way towards his desk. He laid his head down on his desk and stared at the floor with blurry vision. How was he supposed to do his work if his glasses were broken?
While Brandon had his head down, Mat stared at him. He wondered what happened to the boys face and where his glasses went. He would have to ask him after class. Mat exhaled slowly and waited painfully for the lesson to be over. When the bell finally rang, he stood from his chair and before he could walk to the boys desk, the boy shot up from his seat and ran out the room while bumping into people.
It was lunch time now and Mat couldn't ever remember having seen the boy in the cafeteria. He made his way to the boys bathroom to see if he could find the boy in there but when he walked in, he saw no one. Mat was about to leave when he heard a whimper come from the showers at the back. He stopped and listened for a moment then heard a voice. The voice was taunting, it had nothing but hate in its tone. Jordan.
Mat made his way over to the shower and snatched open the only curtain that was closed. What he saw made him sick. The boy from before was on the ground with Jordan standing over him, delivering kicks to his small body. Cries escaped the boy as each kick landed.
Mat clenched his fist and pulled Jordan by the shoulder. He slammed him against the shower wall and held him there, looking at his face. He shook his head before speaking.
"You better never, and I fucking mean never, touch him again. Do I make myself clear?" Mat said calmly. Jordan nodded quickly and Mat let him go. He ran from the bathroom and Mat leaned down in front of the boy. The bruise on his face was darker now and he had blood coming from his nose, running down his chin. He was shaking and breathing heavily and had his arms wrapped around his torso, protecting it. His arms were covered in bruises of every color.
"Hey" Mat said. The boy flinched and curled in on himself even more.
"D-don't hurt me, please!" He whimpered. Mats heart broke. He didn't want to hurt the boy. In fact, he wanted to protect the boy. He looked fragile and innocent and Mat wanted to be there for him.
"I'm not going to, I'm going to help you okay?" He said. The boys nodded and opened his eyes which were previously squeezed shut. Mat held his hand out for him and the boy grabbed it with a shaky hand. Mat helped him up and let him lean on him for support so he wouldn't fall.
"What's your name then?" Mat asked. The boy cleared his throat before answering.
"Br-Brandon" he said quietly.
Mat repeated the name in his head.
Brandon, Brandon, Brandon.
"Well Brandon, I'm Mat, but you can call me Nooch" he said.Hey guys, how was that for my first chapter? Let me know because feedback is very very appreciated!
Thanks!
