Stranger?

You make promises that you never keep
You tell me not to worry about anything
Making me believe that you would be there for me
Your lies so convincing
Your expressions so true and transparent
Your will unwavering but you disappoint

It began with complaints
About my requests and wants
You say i ask of too much
Why then did you tell me to ask?
I sit and think about my fate
Which has grown worse since your arrival

I was a better version of myself
Surviving through the hard times
With patience and perseverance
In this cruel hard world
Without you, without your help
I thrived in my world without you

Then you came out of the blue
An august visitor,  you were
All smiles and great personality
With your sparkling smile
Reaching for our deepest worries
We upchuck to you with high hopes

Why would you reach out to us
Only to take back your hand halfway
Why would you promise to save us from darkness
Only to shed light through a keyhole
Why give us a thread of hope
Only to try and cut it halfway
Things were better when you were a stranger.
