Part 15: Zeref

Previously...

"Awesome!" He smiled as he lead me across the courtyard. That's when I spotted an arrow heading straight towards me cutting through the air. But, a glimpse of the attackers black raven like hair caught my attention. However, before I could do anything Natsu spotted the arrow and became a barrier between the weapon and myself. Everything happened so quickly, it was as if it was just a trick of the mind. But it wasn't. As that's when he fell to the ground. Blood flowing from his wound. "NATSU!"

Present...
Lucy's POV

His face grew pale as I screamed his name. Tears ran across my terrified face as his heart beat became weaker by the second, whist the weapon still lay in his chest. "What do I do! What the hell is going on!" I cried and as I did Zera ran over and collapsed before Natsu and I as she embraced him in a desperate embrace. "What happened!?" She shrieked, I quickly explained the situation, pausing in places to stop myself from having a nervous breakdown.

But thats when I remember...

Flashback...

"Wait Lucy," She turned around to face me, "Please promise me something,"
"Sure thing what is it?" I questioned.
"Can you please protect me? And if anything goes terribly wrong, take me to Zeref. It was a request from him, he needs me alive..."

End Flashback...

"Zera, I need to take him to Zeref!" She jumped at my sudden remark, she then gave an encouraging smile as tears still fell.
"I know, now go! There is a carriage I was going to take out into town, take that and tell the driver to go to your destination i'm sure he will understand," Zera then kissed Natsu's cold forehead as she stood and called the guards to help me move Natsu to the carriage.

Hours past since we started our journey to the 3rd Kingdom where Zeref ruled. Natsu hasn't moved an inch throughout the whole time and I fear he may only just be hanging onto his life as he gave off a cold deathly presence, that seeped into the skin of even the warmest and brightest of people. Come on Natsu.. Not long now, just hang on, I thought as I cherished his head that lay upon my lap. Blood still pouring through the bandage that I placed upon the hole in his chest where the arrow once lay.

"We have arrived my lady," Announced the carriage driver as he pulled into the cobbled gates of an almost ancient castle that stood proud upon its old grounds.
"Who are you! Introduce yourself!?" Demanded a solider that stood with many others around the carriage.
"We are here for Zeref's help, it's about his brother Nat-"
"Where is he?!" Interrupted a stern but soft voice that began to approach us, whilst I stepped out of the carriage sheepishly.
"In the Carriage," I yelped as his cold eyes locked onto mine, causing knives to piece along my spine causing me to shiver.
"Guards! Help me get him out and bring him to the nurse's room!" The dark haired man demanded. "Oh, and I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself I'm Zeref and I take it your Lucy?" Shocked, I nodded nervously, how does he know my name? I thought."Well come with me."

As we reached the nurse's room the soldiers were dismissed along with the nurse. Wait what?! "Your majesty if you don't mind me asking, but why did you dismiss the nurse surely you need her?!" He chuckled as he placed a pillow under Natsu's head as his lifeless body lay upon the bed.
"Well, the nurse is used to treat the soldiers who are just normal people, Natsu isn't normal. Im guessing you know just about everything he knows as you are here after all, and just call me Zeref." I nodded as he sat upon a chair beside Natsu. "Anyways," he cracked his knuckle as he gazed into my eyes, "I need your heart." {A/N: This is the Once Upon A Time part for all those fans out there, HEYY! But I've put a bit of a twist on it so its more interesting.}
"WHAT!" I screamed jumping away from him, he rolled his eyes.
"Look its not going to kill you... well if it goes wrong then maybe but it shouldn't so just trust me ok," he said sympathetically, "do you want to save him or not? He's going to be too far gone to get back soon." A tear rolled down my cheek as I approach Zeref.
"So how is-" I was interrupted as He reached into my chest and pulled out my heart, it glowed a bright red as it pumped in his hand. {A/N: Please don't imagine it as a real heart, if you wanna know what it looks like then look it up because my computer isn't allowing me to upload pictures *Crying face*}
"This," He pointed to my heart, "this is an enchanted heart, it's not your real heart don't worry. But it shines this bright colour to symbolise how you haven't been tainted by the darkness, and if I sneeze it hard enough you will die. But thats not what I'm gonna do, this is what I'm going to do." He tore it apart into two, as he then reached into Natsu to retrieve his which was as dark as an abyss and he then did the same. Before he carried on with what he was doing he looked at me, "Do you love Natsu? The only reason I'm asking is because this won't work if there is no love between the two of you," I stood shocked as he held one half of my heart and the other half of Natsu's in the other. Before I could answer he slammed the two pieces together and placed it into Natsu's chest before putting the other half of each heart together and putting it into my chest. "Im sorry..." he murmured, "you may not know this but when Natsu kills me in the near future. He will also die. Because he is my finest demon, E.N.D. That is why his heart is stained black." Thats when the world span and the darkness seeped in... Natsu...
