Kat was working in the studio, recording a song for her band. Babes In Toyland was the name of the band. They were recording a few songs more than usual. Kat loved singing and music but the day hadn't been good, she just wanted to get home. First, she couldn't find her shoes that matched her purplish, reddish dress. So she changed into basketball shorts and a oversized tee. Totally not her style. Then she went to the local coffee shop, Vibe. The barista wouldn't stop hitting on her and trying to get her number. She spilled her black coffee all over herself, with no time to go back home to change. When it was time to go home, Kat ran to her car. Kat was bubbling with excitement to see her girlfriend Courtney. With many times of almost wrecking the car, she got home.
"Court, I'm home." she said loudly.
There was no response back to her which wasn't unusual. Kat went walking around looking for her bleach blonde companion. The kitchen was empty. Living room, uninhabited. Bedroom, deserted.
"Courtney? Where are you?"
There was a slow crying and moaning. Kind of sounded like a ghost. It sounded like a lazy cry, like when somebody doesn't realize they are crying. Or can't help but cry. The crying came from the large bathroom, Kat followed the noise. The door was closed but not locked. Kat pushed it open slowly, scared to see what was a few feet in front of her. She pushed it open and slowly peered inside.
"Oh my GOD!"
There was Courtney, thumb in her mouth, makeup smeared, a needle in her arm. Kat couldn't move for a solid minute. She grabbed a tissue and placed it around the needle and pulled it out of her lovers arm. The needle dropped on the ground beside a spoon and a lighter. Courtney moved slightly backwards.
"Baby, I'm not gonna hurt you. "
Courtney didn't respond.
"Can you talk?"
She looked up at Kat.
"I'm gonna help you up."
It took a lot of strain on her back and adrenaline to pick Courtney up. She was barely off the ground. Kat laid Courtney down on the couch. She didn't know what to do. She propped up Court's head with a throw pillow. After what seemed like forever, the drug started to fade away. Kat got up and threw away the spoon, lighter, etc... She held Courtney until she felt alright again.
