The ringing that echoed around the room made me jump slightly, even if I've been up for hours the ear piercing shriek that comes out of the phone still startles me. Sighing while turning off the alarm I chuck it on the bed watching it bounce a few times before it finally finds its home in the center of the bed. Picking up the photo that's on the nightstands seeing three people frozen in time, all smiling and happy, as if there wasn't a worry in the world... It was taken a few years ago, back when I first took this job with my partner.
The photo makes me smile, showing my partner and I with our client. We were not supposed to become friends with him but the three of us have a connection that we all couldn't deny. The photo was taken on new years right after midnight, staring at one of the men in the photo. I remember how he convinced my partner and I to take the day off, have fun, and enjoy being young while we can. Before I can remonus even more there's a knock at my door. I take two steps towards it when it swings open, I'm surprised it's still on it hinges with the force it had.
"I hope you're not planning on taking the day off. Jackson won't be happy if you don't show up"
Looking up and smiling at the brunette towering over me I can't help but chuckle.
"As if I could take a day off Kol, how ever would our loving Jackson survive without us?"
Kol stifles a laugh, he takes off his tan jacket revealing his shoulder holster that houses two Heckler and Koch Vp70's. Knowing my partner that's not the only weapon on his person.
"Well, aren't you prepared today. I thought it was only tea time with his parents and his daily trip to his lovely club."
I don't try to hide the sarcasm in my voice. As much as I love Jackson, I can't stand his father nor do I enjoy his business. Kol smiles and shrugs, stretching his white button up. Leave it to kol to always be the best dressed out of us.
"Jackson has actually been invited to this hotel, the owner wants him to promote it and possibly be business partners. It's a whole weekend full of rich entrepreneurs and their help, and if you didn't know Amira... we're the help."
Grabbing clothes from the rack next to my bed I walk over to the bathroom leaving the door open a crack to keep talking to Kol.
"A weekend with a bunch of rich people i rather pass, doesn't sound like a fun weekend getaway"
Walking out of the ensuite dressed in a maroon button up tucked into my black dress pants. Leaning over the chair in the corner of the room grabbing my shoulder holster, fasting it on. Kol instantly gravitated to my safe, instantly putting the code in and grabbing my heckler and koch vp70's, though we carry the same gun mine has a slight gray tint to it and an engraving on the handle. "salvum me manere" is latin for "stay safe for me". Jackson had it engraved for my 24th birthday. Kol holsters my guns in their perceptive homes.
"It's not a getaway for us Amira, and it's definitely not a getaway for him."
Pushing him slightly, I turn around and grab my heeled boots.
"Where is this hotel even at, and why do they want the help going also?"I sighed out, sitting down in the chair putting my boots on. Standing up I turn to the small full length mirror on the wall next to the ensuite.
"Probably because all the help is body guards like us. Some of the people going are not people I want Jackson to be friends with." Kol slightly plops a manilla folder onto my kitchen table. The color of the folder standing out against the dark mahogany table. "I suggest you start reading. We have a lot to cover."
