The first thing I hear when I wake up is the joyful sound of my mom yelling at my brother to get up, that he's gonna be late for school. I roll out of bed knowing that my room was next for mom's arrival. I quickly tiptoe to my bathroom, close the door quietly, and start to run the shower. I made sure the door was locked so she couldn't barge in on me halfway through getting undressed. As soon as I stepped in I heard her knocking.
"Your brother needs a ride to school. So I volunteered you." She yelled over the loud running water.
I knew I couldn't argue with her because the more I would disobey the less presents I would be getting. I cut the shower short, leaving out the deep conditioning that my hair desperately needed. I bleach it blond freshman year, absolutely the worst thing I've ever done. I mean I do look good as a blond and blonds are more fun but my hair is dryer than the Sahara desert. I got used to it though. Riley doesn't mind it either. Riley and I have been dating since middle school, just the usual holding hands and pecks on the cheek deal back then. When he saw my blond hair he said that it was sexy and he could get used to it. Now we're both Juniors and things are more serious, a couple months ago he took my virginity. Some advice for anyone planning to swipe their V card anytime soon, it is nothing like the movies. No candlelight dinner, just take out, no slow and romantic kisses, more like forced and weird amounts of tongue action, no looking in each others eyes cause you're in love, instead looking at anything that will keep your mind off of the most awkward moment of your entire life. Mom knows I'm having sex, she bought me a box of condoms for Christmas. I wouldn't have been that embarrassed if it wasn't for the whole family being there and watching me open it. I stepped out of the bathroom in my pink Minnie Mouse towel and walked to my closet. I picked out a dress appropriate for spring but not to skimpy for school and slipped it on. I then added my usual foundation, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, and a red lipstick so bold that no one else but me could pull it off. After blow drying my hair I put it in a messy bun with a red bow to finish the look. I walked to the mirror to see how the white and blue stripped dress fitted around my petite figure. Black heels, I thought to my self. I slipped my size 6 heels on and started staring at myself again.
"Perfect." I whispered to myself.
"Who are you talking to?" I turned quickly in a startled motion.
"Get out you little creep!" I squealed at my brother Max.
I took a pillow from my bed and aimed for his head, instead hitting the wall beside the door. I grabbed my keys, purse, and headed out the door. On my way down the hallway I heard my mom on the phone, she was talking to dad about me. I have no idea what they were saying because when they argue it's usually about something stupid. My dad left when I was 9, I remember it like it was yesterday. I was watching Spongebob and eating fruit snacks, my mom was crying and my dad just kept saying that he found someone new. I see him every Christmas day and every Easter but not on my birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, or anything else special, mom had the choice to pick when he saw me. I didn't like spending time with him anyway, his new wife Christina was a bitch, and I know that I should be nice to my step sister but she is just a little brat. So I decided that when I turn 18 I don't have to see him at all anymore, but that's in another year unfortunately. I walked slowly down the stairs, just to make sure I don't twist my ankle in the shoes I was wearing. When I got to the bottom I yanked my phone charger out of the wall carelessly and shoved it in my purse. I then yelled for my brother to come on and unlocked my phone. I had 10 different texts, I ignored them. I tapped the camera icon, fixed the wrinkles on my dress, and snapped a picture of myself in the bathroom mirror. I then realized Max was already in the car, so I yelled bye to mom and shut the front door behind me. I reached for the car door handle, it was locked. My natural reaction was to click the unlock button on my keychain, so I did and reached for the handle again. Still locked. I looked through the window and saw my brother laughing. About 20 seconds of that he finally stopped. When I sat down in my seat I hit him in the head with my purse and laughed.
"I can't believe you are that immature. You're a Sophomore. Grow up." I said while started the car.
Before we pulled out I posted the selfie to IG with the caption "Happy Birthday To Me". Not like I needed to remind anyone, everyone knew me. I was the caption of the varsity cheerleading team, volleyball team, and dance team. My boyfriend and my brother are both on the football team, best in my opinion. I get a's and b's all year, have never missed a day of school, and I'm involved in practically every after school activity. I was on homecoming court all three years I've been in highschool. Not to mention I'm the nicest person you'll ever meet. I'm like the Beyonce of my school, and I'm not even a senior yet. I backed out of the parking space and headed for the main street. We lived 10 minutes from the school, so gas money isn't a problem. Except for you know, going to the mall, friends houses, dad's house, not to mention being a chauffeur to Max. He failed his drivers test and is planning to take it in the summer for the second time. Summer was only a month away and I was ready. I already got a new bathing suit and everything. We pulled into the assigned parking spot for my car and came to a stop. I put my keys into my purse and turned to open my door, stepping onto the concrete. I locked my door and headed for the school.
"Hey sis." I heard Max call after me. I turned.
"Yeah?" I said in return.
"Happy Birthday." he smiled and grabbed his bag of football things, locking and shutting his door.
"Thank you." I said as he walked away to his friends.
I smiled and took my phone out as I walked across the walkway, checking my texts again. 13 new texts. I scrolled through them. Jessica, Ashley, Jeremy, Alexa, Danny, Ryan, Lily, Benny, Jenna, Felix, Shirley, both girl Bo and boy Beau had texted me. They all were either wishing me happy birthday, asking what time my party was going to start, or if I was bringing cupcakes to school. The one person I was waiting for a text from never texted. Riley. I wondered what was up with him.
