Today is the last day of school and spring break is finally here! The bell rang and the hallways flooded with high school kids eager to begin their spring break. I texted my best friend, Justice to meet me at the bus port while I stopped at my locker to put away my books and grab my backpack. When I walked to the bus port, Justice was already there.
"Spring break, baby!" she cheered. "I'm gonna miss you!"
"I'm gonna miss you too," I wailed.
"You're lucky you get to stay out of school for an extra week...in Hawaii! School is not gonna be the same without you!" said Justice.
"Don't worry! It's just two weeks. I'll make sure to text you every day!" I said.
"Screw that, we need to FaceTime everyday!" said Justice. We both laughed.

The two of us left the high school and began to walk home. It was a 15 minute walk and the entire way there we talked about how much we were going to miss each other, the homework we had during break that we're not going to do, and just your average teenage girl talk.

We were on my street and as we began to get closer I saw my parents loading the luggage in the car.
"Justice!" yelled my twelve year old brother Mateo.
"There's my boyfriend! Still waiting on that engagement ring!" Justice said waving her hand. Justice and I began to laugh.
"Good afternoon ladies, how does it feel to be on spring break?!" asked my Dad.
"Bittersweet, I'm gonna miss Marina," said Justice giving me a hug.
"That's okay girls, you won't be apart for too long," said my dad.
"Not at all," said my mom walking out the house with Justice's parents.
"What's going on?" asked Justice with her eyes getting wide. I think she was thinking what I was thinking.
"OMG!" I cheered getting excited.
"Girls, your parents, myself and my husband have been secretly planning this for the past year. We wanted this Spring Break to be special for you two," said my mom. Justice and I looked at each other in shock.
"Which is why we want to bring Justice with us to Hawaii," said my dad.
"Are you serious?!" Justice screamed running to her parents.
"This trip was very expensive which is why our whole family isn't going, but I wanted you to spend your break with your best friend," said Justice's dad.
"You girls are so well behaved, you do amazing in school and we love you so much! So we hope you have fun!" said Justice's mom.
"We're going to be staying at the kids' grandma's house so you won't have to worry about too much spending money," said my Dad.
"Three hundred dollars should be more than enough, unless you want souvenirs and what not," my mom exclaimed.
"I can't believe this is happening!" Justice cried in awe.
"We trust Marina's parents just as much as we trust you girls, so I hope you have fun!" said Justice's mom.
"Your bags are already packed and loaded in the van," said Justice's dad.
"I hope you packed good clothes!" Justice chuckled.
"We'll be on the beach all day so you won't have to worry about that!" I said.
"We have to be at the airport in like an hour and a half so we'll be leaving in about thirty minutes, if you want to check your bags and make sure you have everything, feel free," said my mom.
"Alright ladies, we'll see you in two weeks. Have fun and be safe!" said Justice's dad.
Justice gave her final goodbyes to her parents and after fifteen minutes of just having general conversation, they left.
"I can't believe we're all going to Hawaii together!" yelled Justice in pure excitement.
"I know right! This is going to be the best two weeks of my life!" I cried hugging Justice.
"Roll call!" My Dad yelled. We all lined up in front of the car.
"Missy?" asked my dad.
"Here!" said my mom.
"Marissa?" yelled my dad.
"Here!" cried my sister.
"Mateo?"
"Sir, yes sir!" yelled my brother.
In the middle of our shenanigans, a dog walker walked passed and gave us a weird look. We broke out in laughter.
"Marina?"
"Here"
"Mel?"
"Here,"
"Justice?"
"Here!"
"Michael?" yelled my mom.
"Here!" yelled my dad.
"Alrighty then! Since we're all packed, we might as well take off. It won't hurt to be a few minutes early," said my dad getting ready to get into the car.
Mel and Mateo sat in the middle row while I sat in the last row with my sister, Marissa and Justice. My mom made sure the house was locked up, then went into the passenger seat.
"Alright ladies and gents! Hawaii! Here we come!" my mom cried with her hands in the air. We all cheered.
