An Encounter

You walked through the desert, the hot sun almost being more than you can bear. After running away from home, you found yourself in the middle of nowhere with no sign of life anywhere. You persisted on keeping the same path, but almost turned around and started walking back. Right before you turned around, you saw a tall building nearby. It looked kind of like a teepee, but striped. It was a circus tent! Many of them! You grinned, not worried about who or what might be there, only a place to stay and possibly eat on your mind. As you approached, you noticed more.. unsettling things. There was a puddle of blood on the ground and splatters on the wall. Fresh. You told yourself it wasn't blood and continued to walk towards one of the tents. As you pulled away the opening, you saw a dog inside. He looked skinny, and he was purple. He had his back turned to you and in a moment of shock, you jumped back and closed the tent opening. The dog must've heard you, because there was some shuffling and then it... pulled away the door? It stood in front of you, a mask on its face and a smile on the mask. It walked on its hind legs like a normal person would. You must've had a very surprised look on your face because the dog shook his head and his mask dropped to reveal an empathetic one. "Hey, it's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you. Where did you come from?" You gulped and responded, "I-i don't know how far from home I am.. but I need to stay here.. I ran from home an-" he cut you off. "Say no more. Let's get you some food, okay?" You nodded and the dog took your hand, smiling again. You could see his actual dog face smiling out of the corners of his mask. "I'm Kedamono, by the way." He blurted. You smiled and said, "I'm (Y/N)."
He nodded and grinned once more, and you walked hand in hand to another tent.
