I felt my entire body tense up the minute I heard the soft click of the front door. I blindly followed the voices echoing in the house, aimlessly feeling for surrounding furniture. My eyes adjusted to the darkness surrounding me as I tried to focus on the image ahead of me. I squinted at the sight, blinking feverishly to make sure I was awake. I pinched my skin with shaky fingers in attempt to wake me up from this horrid nightmare. I felt a slight sting when my fingers made contact, a dull comparison to the sharp pang I felt in my chest when I found out that it was real. My throat tightened as I watched the horror scene unfold. Waves of grief hit me as tsunami tides filled my eyes. My fingers dug into my palms nearly drawing blood. I let out silent sobs, my body convulsing. I could taste the salty tears that now stained my cheeks. How did this happen? How long has she been in town? Why now? So many questions flooded through my mind. How could they do this to me? In my own damn house! I stood there frozen, my feet glued to the hardwood floor. I glared in their direction, my mouth held agape. Silence screamed through the thick air. They started to make their way across the room and I start to taste the bile rising from my throat. I looked down at my hands, now numb and colourless from clenching. My blood was boiling. Anger coursed through my veins as I watched them fiercely. They were still oblivious of my presence! I glared at my sister who was now leaning in to kiss my husband, a slow smirk made its way across her face. Their lips eventually met, but my attention was elsewhere. My eyes now looked into ones as cold as a snake.
