Hey Guys! A little look into Liam's past just to give you some insight for the chapters to come

Chapter 4-When Tragedy Strikes

When I woke up on Saturday morning I stared at Liam for nearly an hour before deciding that I needed to get up. I made my way into the bathroom and took a nice cold shower wishing that I could wash the images from last night from my mind. It’s not that I hadn’t enjoyed myself, actually that was the problem. I had made out with a guy and thoroughly enjoyed it. Actually I got pretty hot and heavy with a guy and I had enjoyed it. That was worse. When I was done with my shower I pulled on some basketball shorts without pulling a shirt on and Liam was still asleep, man it was after eight in the morning, I never slept in that late.

I decided that I wanted to know more about Liam. My mom had said that he had had a hard life and that I would have to figure out what she meant by that on my own. It seemed safe to bet that his apparent nightmares had been about his past. I could ask him about it but I am sure that he would just deny it or go on the defensive and I wanted real answers. I decided that my best chance at finding anything out was to just Google it for now. So I sat down on the couch with my laptop and began searching anywhere from news headlines to public records.

My mom had told me that he had lived in a small town near Great Falls, Montana so I started there just searching by his last name. You would think that it would be incredibly difficult because Michaels is quite a popular name. But it turned out that the town that he was from had just over 3,000 people in it and it was incredibly easy to find what I was looking for. I read the headline and horror would have been clear on my face as I continued down the article that had appeared in the local newspaper and on the news.

Husband slaughters family, little boy watches massacre. Thursday September 16, 2005

Emergency personnel responded to shots fired in a residential area near the local elementary school on Wednesday night. When they arrived at the scene they discovered that tragedy had struck the family of six. Steven Michaels, 37, was tackled by police and promptly arrested at the scene. Inside the house the sheriff and his officers would find the aftermath of a bloodbath. Lindsey Michaels, 32, Samuel Michaels,7, and Luca Michaels, 7, were found dead on arrival. They lay next to each other in the living room of the home. The woman had been shot seven times while the boys had been shot five times each. They two boys had been twins. Little Leila Michaels, 4, was struggling to breathe as she lay, shot twice, on the floor adjacent to her mother and older brothers.

She was rushed to the Marias Medical here in Shelby where she is currently in critical condition. She is expected to be airlifted to Great Falls when she is stabilized fully.

Perhaps the most tragic part is that Liam Michaels, 10, looked on as his family was slaughtered before him. Liam was found cowering in the living room closet hours after police had arrived. He had sat there the entire time as his father shot the members of his family. He was close enough to the tragic event that his mother’s blood had spattered across his face through the slight opening in the door through which he watched. Liam has yet to speak since the event and he was only discovered when his sobs were heard by authorities. Authorities say that there was nothing that Liam could have done to help his family and that if he had tried there would likely be one more body on the city’s hands. Steven Michaels’ motives for the massacre are yet to be known. By all accounts from family friends and neighbors, they were a happy family without a care in the world.
