We were all sitting in the family room watching TV. Cody and Maize were cuddled up on one of the huge love seats, while Alli, Greyson and I were all sitting on the sectional. We were watching the movie Grown Ups. Maize was really fidgety through the whole movie.
“Maize, what’s wrong with you?” I said looking at her.
“It’s such a nice day outside and you have a huge pool. Why are we in here?”
Alli got up from where she was sitting. “You have a good point, but Cody, Greyson and I don’t have swimsuits.”
“Alli, you can borrow one of mine. I have a bunch of them.”
“Okay, that takes care of Alli, but what about us?” Greyson said pointing to Cody.
I thought for a minute then came up with a good idea. “There’s a mall right down the street. I’ll give you guys some money and you can but one.”
Cody shook his head. “No, I don’t want you to buy us a swimsuit.”
I rolled my eyes. “Oh please, it’s not like my mom or dad will notice. They have so much money, they don’t know what to do with it.” Cody looked uneasy, but agreed to it. I gave them each forty bucks and told them to go wild with it. As soon as they were gone, Alli, Maize and I went upstairs to find a swimsuit that would look good.
“Alli, what’s your favorite color?”
She shrugged. “I’m fine with whatever.” I looked in my closet for a minute then brought out a cute pink polka dot bikini.
“Do you want to invite anybody?” I asked Alli as I handed her the swim suit.
“Can I invite Austin?”
I shrugged. “Why not? If Cody flips out, just use the Maize card on him.”
Maize popped her head up. “Don’t drag me into this.”
“We have to,” I said. “If we don’t, Austin can’t come over.”
She sighed. “Fine.” She walked into my bathroom and shut the door.
“Maize, what bikini do you have?” I screamed at her.
“The one I always use! The green one.”
“Okay!” I screamed back at her. “Alli, you can go into the bathroom downstairs by the front door if you want.”
“Okay. If I get lost you have to come find me.”
I laughed. “This house isn’t that big!” she just shook her head and went downstairs to the bathroom. I shut my door and searched my closet for a swim suit I wanted to wear. I ended up picking a floral one that wrapped around my neck and behind my back. I got changed and got a flowy cover up to put on until the boys came back. i opened my door and ran into Maize as she was walking out of the bathroom. “Ooh! You look cute.”
She rolled her eyes. “You’ve seen this on me a bazillion times, Anna.”
I laughed. “I know you still look cute.”
She smiled. “So do you. Is that new?”
I shook my head. “No I’ve had it for awhile.”
“Well, it’s cute.”
“Thanks. Let’s go find Alli. She probably got lost.”
Maize laughed and ran down the stairs. I quickly followed her down the hall where the bathroom was. As soon as we reached the door, Alli walked out. We all started laughing really hard as we ran into each other. After our laughing fit was over, we made our way to the backyard.
