I don't Believe In Monsters

Chapter 24

Elena's POV

As Damon and I sit in the bar he looks around. He is trying to figure out how, or who I'm going to feed on. Its night time and the suns not up, so I can't burn when I turn.

"Uh, you've got the stoner over there, you have Asian delight in that corner, and the typical white girl to the right. Choose one." He says. I look at the people he has listed. And I think.  Most of them are innocent people. They are innocent.

"I don't care, it's just, what if I can't stop? What if I'm like Stefan?" I ask with worry in my voice.

He cups his hands around my cheeks and kisses my lips. "You wont. Feed, heal, erase." He says. I nod my head and smile. He takes my hand and walks towards some man. He looks the man straight in the eyes and says, " Let my girl and I talk to you outside for a minute?" The man smiles and nods his head as he follows Damon and I out to an alley next to the bar.

Once we get there the man stands against the wall. I move closer to him and look back at Damon. He nods his head reassuringly. I look back to thee man and look into his eyes.

"Whats your name?" I ask.  He answers, "Joshua."  

"Joshua, I'm so sorry. This won't hurt, so don't scream." I say sadly, tears daring to leave my eyes. Joshua nods his head. I hesitate for a moment.

Then I rush my head towards his neck, fangs and veins popping out. I sigh as the blood enters and rushes through my body as I feel a single tear fall down my face. 

I keep drinking. The blood is so warm and thick. I can't seem to stop myself before I hear Damon's voice.

"Elena. Stop now." He says. I don't listen. I keep drinking.

"Elena stop. You're killing him. Elena!" He yells. Suddenly I yank my teeth back and I feel terrible.

"Good. Now heal him." Damon says. I bite my wrist and bring it to Joshua's mouth as I start to make him drink. He does so, and the wounds start to heal.

Damon says, "Great, now erase." I look into his eyes once again and say, "Forget this happened. You came outside to get some fresh air and went back in." Joshua nods his head and walks away.

I turn to Damon sadly. He smiles shortly and walks towards me. He takes his thumb and starts wiping away the blood from my chin. He looks up to my face and kisses me softly on my lips. "You did great." He says, and pecks me on my lips again.

"Now lets go get Bon Bon to give you that ring she made." He says and I nod. We walk to the car in the dark and head to Bonnie's. 

Time skip at Bonnie's after she gave Elena the ring

"Thank you, so much Bonnie. It's beautiful." I say smiling down at the ring she gave me. Damon's arm hasn't moved from my waist.

"No problem Elena. Anything for you. I'm so sorry this happened to you." Bonnie say frowning. I nod my head and we say our goodbyes.

NEXT MORNING IN WOODS

"Okay Elena now push off the tree with all of your strength." Damon says to me, with Stefan nodding in approval. I try and I fail miserably. "Ugh, I can't do it!" I sigh. 

Stefan says, "Yes you can just try again." I do so and I start running full speed to tree after another. Damon and Stefan start clapping. "That's my girl!" Damon yells smiling at me proudly. I smile as I run back to the boys.

"Okay now it's a little trickier, punch that tree. I know it seems like it may hurt, but if you do it right it should work." Damon says. Stefan furrows his eyebrows and starts shaking his head.
