Jace POV
The loud blaring of my alarm clock woke me up bright and early this morning. I could feel the morning sun blazing my skin as it blinded my sight before I finally rolled out of my bed.
I gradually made my way to the bathroom down the short hall from my room. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and let out a small sigh. There were bruises all over my small bare chest and I had a black eye. I knew that if I went to school like this again they would call social services and put me in a group home. I heard about those places no one wants to go there especially someone my age.
"Jace baby, are you in there?" I cringed at the voice on the other side of the door. She must have came down from her high, which means she remembers nothing from last night.
"Yeah ma, I'm in here gimme a minute." I couldn't tell her what she did last night. I love my mama to death and no matter what she did to me I could never grow the courage to tell her what she did or stop her from doing what she does, I want to help her honestly.
I walked out of the bathroom after I showered and brushed my teeth, you know the hygiene stuff. I headed to the kitchen where the sweet aroma of pancakes came from. I knew my mom was definitely down from her high if she's cooking breakfast.
"Good morning mama." I said with a slight smile as I went over to kiss her forehead.
"Good morning lo-" She stopped mid sentence as she turned around and saw the bruises that covered my face. I could instantly see the hurt in her eyes as she started to talk, but her voice began to crack.
"I di-i-id th-h-his." She said a little above a whisper as she slowly caressed my face. I couldn't believe she remembered her actions, this has never happened before. She gradually got out from my embrace and walked away to her room. I could hear her soft but hard sobs all the way in here, I truly wanted to comfort her, but who was there to comfort me over the past four years when she would beat me and not remember a thing about it the next day.
"Ma, I'm heading out for school. I love you, please don't beat yourself up about this, I promise I'm okay." I could still hear her whimpering and it honestly pained me to hear, but I can't constantly feel bad like its my fault.
As I walked out the door heading for the bus stop I put in my headphones and turned my music up all the way so I couldn't hear the world around me. I never had friends, people saw me as the weird kid who never talks. It's not that I didn't want to talk to people its just that over the years I've been through so much and I finally lost the courage to speak. The late nights my mama used to stay up and molest me and the piercing screams I used to let ring out took away my voice everyday, and no one wants to hear a raspy voice every single day. As the years past she got tired of molesting me and decided to beat me, I think it was because I was a spitting image of my father who left her, when I was born.
As I approached the bus stop, the bus was arriving. I walked up the little four stairs with my head down, the same way I walked through the isle. I didn't want anyone to see my face and the bruises that covered it. While walking I saw a foot and I tried to step over it, but it only rose with my leg and kicked me right in my private parts. I groaned loudly as I made impact with the dirty bus floor. I stayed there for at least thirty seconds holding myself. I wanted to cry, but mama always told me boys don't cry its a sign of weakness. I quickly got up and headed to my seat as everyone laughed at my scrawny body.
We finally made it to the school and I was the last one off the bus. I instantly threw my hood over my head and hurried to my locker. Before I could get there I met the floor and my books were scattered everywhere. I looked up to apologize but before I could the person above me started to speak.
"Yo what the fuck. Next time watch where the hell you going shawty." The sweet angelic voice spoke harshly as I hurried to finish collecting my books. I looked up at the light skinned female standing in front of me who's skin was now red. I just simply nodded my head as my apology and walked passed her and to my class, I was no longer caring about my locker.
I quickly headed to the back of the class to my normal seat. I never really interacted with any other students because of the way my voice is. I had a very raspy voice with my New Orleans accent. Mama always told me I had a beautiful voice before she, you know.
"Mr.Carter are you listening." I slowly looked up from my hard brown desk as my dumb ass teacher tried to single me out. I slid my hood off with one hand so he could see the menacing look I was giving him. I don't even talk to teachers, sad right.
As the class went by slowly, I went from sitting my head down to watching the teacher lecture us. I was definitely satisfied when the bell rung for lunch. I usually don't go to lunch, but today I had a feeling I should go, bad idea.
When I got into the lunchroom everyone was separated into their own little groups. I silently stood in line as the students moved slowly. I felt a hard and firm tap on my shoulder. I looked over and saw the angry bright girl from earlier.
"Look Im sorry about this morning, I have a really short temper and I was already pissed, I never meant to yell at you." I looked over at her and nodded. She laughed lowly and I just shrugged as I grabbed my tray and headed to a far back table.
"You don't talk much do you?" She asked as she sat across from me. I slowly looked up at her giving her a get the fuck on look. I guess she got the hint because she slowly got up from the table. I was ready for this day to be over with.

As the last bell rang I grabbed all if my belongings and headed for the door. I was ready to go home take a shower and lay on my mattress.
I was the first one on the bus today because I wanted to avoid conflict. I decided to sit in the first seat so I could get off easier.
It took no longer than fifteen minutes to get to my house and I was happy.
I got off the bus and slowly made my way up the hill to my house. I dug into my pocket for my house key because mama always locks the door so the police won't walk in.
As I walked into the house it was eerily quiet which was strange.
"Ma! You home?" I got no answer so I Made my way to her room. I knocked on her door softly.
"Mama You in there?" The Door creaked opened. I peeked in and immediately fell to my knees. I quickly crawled over to the side of my mother's bed as tears came streaming down my face.
"How could you do this to me? Why would you leave me like this?" I grabbed her body shaking it with each sentence. She may have been abusive and a little neglecting, but she's my mama and I love her none the less.
I had to call the police, but they would send me away because I have no family, that couldn't happen. I looked over to see her phone on the floor, I grabbed it and headed to my room.
Once I got to my room I grabbed my big duffel bag from the closet and started to fill it with clothes. Once I was finished I headed out the house for the second time today, tears gradually cascading down my cheeks. I pulled out mama's phone and dialed the number.
"911 what's your emergency?" I sniffled a little and gave off a hard hiccup.
"I'd like to report a suicide." My words came out shaky. I gave the lady the address to the house as I made my way down the street. I don't know where I'm going, but I do know I have to lay low for awhile.
