* Three Months Earlier *"Ma'am, you have to sign in," the ginger nurse dully pointed out as she walked by, but she didn't acknowledge her whatsoever and kept walking.
The nurse rushed after her and grabbed her arm roughly, she slowly turned to face the annoyed ginger and maintained her intense scowl. The nurse felt almost uncomfortable and anxious as she stared at the woman's face.
"Y-you're free to g-go," She brushed it off before rushing back to the desk, frightened by the intimidating woman.
Her infamous black "So Kate" Louboutins clicked along the hard hospital flooring as she carried the large bouquet of fresh crimson roses to the designated room.
Everyone knew when she wore those stilettos; she meant business. Any sane person would not try to mess with her or question her unknown intentions and agenda.
But, once in a while, some irrational soul would try to challenge her in someway. Soon after approaching her, they promptly realize their mistake and back off, apologizing repeatedly. For instance, the feisty nurse from a couple of moments ago who backed away from the mystery woman.
Anyone who passed by felt odious vibes emitting from her perfectly carved out figure. They stepped aside from her path without hesitation, in utter fear and awe as she maintained her resting face, which came off as threatening to others.
Her bright, vibrant eyes were shadowed by her expensive sunglasses, even though she was indoors and couldn't see as well as she wanted to or admit.
She wore a black fitted bomber jacket along with matching ripped jeans. She didn't care that it was the summer, or if the heat outside was nearly suffocating due to the intense humidity.
Her full face of makeup remained intact and matte, not a single drop of perspiration appeared on her golden complexion.
Her ebony dyed hair stayed neatly in a long pony tail, not a single sight of frizz or split ends available for anyone to see.
It's as if she was created to be physically flawless.
But, she indeed had her flaws deep down that she was able to keep isolated from others.
She patiently knocked on the door before the blonde nurse opened the door with a smile that immediately dissipated at the sight of the frowning mysterious woman standing there.
"Robin, you have a guest," she moved aside, and the bedridden man weakly opened his slightly swollen eyes to see the woman he's been anticipating standing in the entrance with a bundle of roses.
"Thank you, Margot, can we have a minute?" The nurse helped the gentleman sit slightly up in his small bed before shooting the terrifying woman a forced smile and shutting the door behind her hastily.
"These are for you," she mumbled just before she replaced her roses in for the dying ones that sat along in the vase had left his bed. She threw the dead ones in the trash before wiping her hands on her dark jeans and looking around the bland white room. She sat on the chair adjacent to the bed and crossed her legs before Robyn weakly spoke up.
"I'm sure you'll take care of my son, he means a lot to me," Robin looked at the woman sympathetically, and she removed her sunglasses to reveal her mesmerizing viridescent eyes.
"Of course Mr. Twist, you can trust me with your son's life. I'm sure Martins went over with you about the significant details, yes?" Her words flowed smoothly and entirely ensured Robyn that his final wish would be granted.
Her accent slightly poked through as certain words and vowels rolled off her tongue. Listening to her speak, and processing all her words wasn't a difficult task even though her accent was different, in fact, she often received compliments for her voice, and how the warm angelic sound overcame her intimidating aura.
"Yes, I am confident with my decision... I hope one day my family will understand my reasoning for this," he sighed as the memories of his family flashed throughout his head. His two beautiful grown step children and wife are his top priority, even in his current situation.
He knew the money and fame they have obtained over the years through his stepson's growing business would surely put his family in peril one day.
Jealousy and envy were sinful diseases that could even turn the most genuine person into a sick, twisted monster.
"I am sure they will appreciate this in the future Mr. Twist. You are making a completely rational decision in order to keep your loved ones safe," She sent him a small smile before slowly standing to her feet and approaching his bed.
"I hope my colleagues and I make you proud," She stuck her hand out, and his weak hand slowly shook her hand before smiling at her.
"I'm sure you will do a great job Ms. Hartley."
"Please Mr. Twist, I insist that you call me Grace," she insisted as she turned around to leave the room and head back to her hotel.
"Thank you Grace; I'm glad I got to meet you before I, you know..." A light string of laughter left his mouth before he began coughing, it felt as if each breath he took was more difficult than the last. The pain surging throughout his body emphasized immensely as the seconds passed until it all suddenly stopped at once and his eyes fluttered shut as his body made contact with the mattress.
The nurse knocked before entering the room and smiling at the two in front of her. She went over to Mr. Twist and tried to wake him up, but it didn't necessarily work. The machine flatlined before she immediately pushed the button next to the bed and began screaming for the other doctors and nurses to enter as soon as possible.
They tried to revive the body, but it was too late.
He was already gone.
A young man clad in a sleek black suit rushed into the room and dropped all the contents in his arms just as Grace was walking out, he crashed into her small figure carelessly before running over to see what they were doing to his stepfather.
The sight of the body made him feel extremely sick and overwhelmed; he began yelling at the doctors and trying to move them aside while tears rapidly streamed down his paled skin. He had to be removed from the room by many nurses who were trying to stabilize and calm him down.
The last thing he saw that day and still has burned into his brain to this day was the visible sight of the ebony haired woman connecting her sympathy filled eyes with his bloodshot ones before slowly putting her sunglasses back on and leaving the entrance of the room briskly.
She disappeared down the long stretched hallway and he thought he would never see her haunting face again.
