I sigh and bring the phone away from my ear as Sakura starts squealing loudly. It was bad enough that the background noise was that of a club, but this just takes the cake.
"What is it, Sakura?" I ask, making her stop.
"They're here again!"
"Who?"
"There are these two guys that come in here every Friday and dance like really good. You have to come see next week. Hold up, they're requesting the song. I'm gonna go record their dancing and send it to you, bye!" Sakura says quickly before hanging up.
I just sit there in a bit of confusion before rolling my eyes. I'll figure out what she was talking about soon enough.
"You really should try and loosen up a bit," my brother drawls from the chair next to the couch. "Smiles look a bit better on you than that permanent scowl."
I shift on the couch in annoyance, wondering when the hell Itachi even made his way into the living room with me.
"Itachi's kind of right, dear," my mom coos from the kitchen. "You might do well to get out of the house sometime."
"You too, Mom?" I cry exasperatedly.
"Well, you have never been to a party, you hardly ever go shopping anymore, and Lord only knows you're wasting your life away in that room of yours," she tells me in a sickly-sweet voice.
"Damn, Mom! Way to be nice about it!" I yell as quietly as possible.
"Language," she scolds before taking her hands out of the sink and sitting next to me on the couch. "So, what was Sakura-chan calling you for?"
"She wants me to go to some club with these two dudes that dance good or something," I groan.
"That's perfect," she claps her hands excitedly. "Do you know how they dance?"
"Sakura said she'd send me a video," I answer with yet another roll of my eyes.
My mother smiles and wraps an arm around me. "You show me as soon as it comes through," she orders.
"Will do," I mumble.
After about five minutes pass and I all but forget about the conversation I had while staring at the TV with my mom and brother. I nearly jump when my phone goes off and then my stomach drops. It is the video that I had to show my mom.
"What is it, hun? Is it the video Sakura-chan was telling you about?"
Well, there go my hopes of trying to get her to forget.
"Yeah. I can't promise there won't be any cursing, though. It is in a club after all," I warn her.
She nods. "Of course."
I pull out my earbuds and sit my phone on my lap so that my mom can see and Itachi shifts on the chair so that he can see as well. As soon as I press play, we all jump at how loud it is and I turn the volume down. I watch in apprehension as the song changes to something a bit more electro than the song before and the camera zooms in on two guys, one with blonde hair and one with red hair.
They turn to each other and the blonde smiles brightly while the other just smirks. Next thing I know, the lyrics start and the two move with each other in a way that must have been practiced for a long time. They step in sync, move in sync, it almost feels as if they are breathing in sync.
"Whoah, these guys are good," my mom marveles and even Itachi seems intrigued. "It's settled. You're going to the club next Friday."
"Aren't you supposed to be the one that convinces me not to go?" I ask skeptically.
She just looks at me and winks. "I have a feeling you won't do anything you'll regret. Your father and I raised you better than that."
"If you want, I can go with him," Itachi suggests, watching my phone until it goes black, even though the video is paused.
"No, no, no. Hell to the no," I argue, standing up and shaking my head.
Instead of correcting my language, my mother just laughs and puts her hand on Itachi's shoulder, assuring him that Sakura would keep an eye on me.
I wonder if it's possible to roll my eyes too much, because, if it is, I'm about at my limit.
"I'm going to bed," I huff, sulking over to my room without another word. My mom just watches me with a knowing smile and Itachi follows me before turning into his room.
As soon as I get on my bed, I call Sakura. I'm pretty sure she's made it home by now and I rather talk than text.
She picks up in the fifth ring with a groggy voice, but there is no background noise. "Sasuke? Did you get the video?"
"Yeah, I did. Did I wake you up?"
"No, I just lost my voice a bit from screaming so much," Sakura laughs.
"Why were you screaming?" I sigh.
"My favorite song came on and I may have been just tipsy enough to sing along to the entire song," Sakura squeaks. "But I'm ok, really."
"Which song?" is all I decide to ask.
"I Took a Pill in Ibiza," she answers immediately.
I shrug even though she can't see me. "I mean, it's ok."
"Are you kidding! It's the best!" Sakura attempts to yell before going into a coughing fit.
"Well, my mom's making me go to the club with you next Friday, so, that's a thing," I say once she stops coughing.
I can practically see her face split into a killer smile as she claps her hands just like my mother would do. "Oh, Sasuke, we're going to have so much fun! There are so many cute regulars there, it's just insane."
"Your definition of cute, or mine?" I sigh.
"Um, both," she replies. "You like colder guys, right? Or am I just thinking about you?"
"I don't care, at this point it's not like I even have a choice in the matter anyways," I groan.
"Well, the guys who were dancing were cute, ne?" Sakura jokes.
For some reason, I shrug again, not getting it through my head that she can't see me. "The blonde was. I don't know about the ginger, though."
"Well, the ginger seems more my type anyways," Sakura points out.
"What, dark and mysterious?" I joke. "Like Twilight?"
"You know me too well," she huffs. "Ugh, I wish I could stay longer, Sasuke, but my eyes are refusing to stay open. I really should get some sleep."
"That's fine," I assure her. "I should get some sleep as well."
"Alright. Talk to you later."
"Yeah," I say curtly before hanging up the phone and rolling over in my bed. I don't even bother changing clothes since I found the perfect position to sleep in. Setting my phone down on the floor, I return my arm to where it was and slowly drift off to sleep, dreaming of Itachi taking me to a club and following my every move.
If that isn't a nightmare, I don't know what is.
