I push the play button on my phone and slide the headphones into my ears. She's so aggravating. I don't understand why she makes everything about him.
"Why can't you be like your brother Harper."
"Your brother would never make everything about him Harper"
"Do you think your brother would have acted like that Harper?"She makes me infuriated. My thoughts drifted to the back of my brain as I focused on the music blaring through my headphones. Even though I was trying my best not to think about it, a lump was forming in my throat and all I wanted to do was scream.
I wanted to scream at my mom for being so inconsiderate. I wanted to scream at my brother for being so damn perfect. I wanted to scream at society for being so demanding and scream at my stupid phone for playing stupid music.
I let out a long drag and stopped short in my tracks to pull my hair out my red and angered face. I changed the song on my playlist and as I was putting my phone back into the pocket of my hoddie something bumped into me from behind. I shrieked and stumbled forward a couple inches.
I spun around and came face to face with a boy that looked to be around my age. My hands found my hips and I blew out air as I rolled my eyes, "Hey!"
"My bad, I seriously didn't see you there." the boy stated with a quirky smile plastered to his face. I noticed the black ear buds placed in his ear and I followed them down to his left hand where, in a tight grip, a phone was being held.
I sighed and let my hands fall to my side, ran my fingers through my hair yet again, and closed my eyes, "It's no big deal."
I opened my eyes half expecting him to nod his head and keep walking but instead I found him tilting his head to the side and watching me with a odd look in his green eyes.
I rolled my eyes and turned around getting ready to begin my walk again when I felt a slight tap on my right shoulder. "Yes?" I stated as I began to turn around once again.
"Hi, I'm Lincoln." He pronounced proudly as I studied his hand that was placed in front of me. I looked up at him to meet his eyes that I now noticed had specks of blue and filled with excitement. He had a childish grin on his face and it took me a great deal of strength to keep a straight face.
I grabbed his hand and shook it, "Hi Lincoln, I'm Harper."
