Chapter 16

Jared's POV

"Awesome."

I said

Basically I'm like the freaking king of fire.

I have this kick butt spear, no wings (which I am beyond excited about) and then I have basically set the whole forest on fire.

I killed a eight foot snake (by catching on fire!) then, I slice the other one in half by my freaking kick butt spear, and after all that I'm standing in front of Grace like, 'Bring it on' while Kristin is just standing their not even knowing what to do.

"Kristin," Grace spoke after, a long silence "any time you want I give you full permission to cover him in a water bubble."

"Ha-Ha, Grace" I said "well, guess what?! Fire can burn your stupid trees!"

I yelled mockingly.

She marched over to me about as angry as I have ever seen her.

"You keep to your territory," she talked, so angry I almost wanted to back up. Almost. "and I will keep to mine."

"Wow, wow, calm down. It was just a joke!" I said, I mean I was only kidding, jeez, woman.

"Sorry," Grace was speaking "Jared, I didn't mean to snap at you, its just..........."

I knew she probably didn't want to talk about it.

See, when you become a guardian, a knowledge of what your taking care of, and what you have to do comes with the power. And I came with the knowledge, knowing......nature and fire (Grace and I) are not supposed to be friends.

"We need to make a plan." Grace said

"Okay." I said "Except I thought the plan was follow you, find wherever Morgana is keeping Brittany, then burn her ugly butt, then fly away, and live happily ever after."

That made her laugh, and I was thankful for that, she had been acting gloomy and, I don't know, un-Grace like.

"I wish, it was that easy" she said "The problem with that plan is, if we get attacked by another monster, were dead." she looked up smiling weakly.

"Well aren't you just a ray of sunshine!"

"I mean really, we are three guardians walking through the woods, killing every hoard of monsters that comes our way." She rolled her eyes and looked at me "No, Jared were not attracting any attention."

"Shhhh!" Kristin shouted

We all froze.

Someone, with wings, was walking through the woods.

And he didn't look to happy about it.
