Colors On The Wall
Prologue
How dare he.
He confesses his feelings for me and then the next day acts like nothing happened. Not to mention he looked a little too close to Rosie, the school slut, for my liking.
Then he goes and says he calls every girl pretty when Emily asked him if he called me pretty. Um, he called me beautiful thank you very much.
It's been two weeks since I've seen him and I'm dreading the confrontation that's bound to happen between us. Two weeks since he said he liked me, told me he didn't like Rosie at all, and then practically throw it in my face by ignoring me and hanging around with her.
Why do I continue to fall for the wrong guys? Robbie was so sweet, but nothing clicked. No fireworks, no toes curling, no nothing.
Asher....well he's a totally different story.
*FLASHBACK*
The clock seemed to be getting slower every time I looked up at it. Mrs. Sanders droned on and on about spreadsheets, acting like we were clueless toddlers. Her hair was up in a ponytail like always, but one blonde strand was hanging in her face. For someone OCD like me I wanted to go up and hack it off. Maybe then she wouldn't be so cheery.
A tug on my sweatshirt brings me out of my haze. I discreetly grab the note from Ashley's outstretched palm and skim over its contents.
Will she ever shut up? I mean, I think we know how to make a spreadsheet. We aren't in kindergarten anymore
My eyes catch Asher's and I silently shake my head, a small smile on my face.
Who the heck writes notes anymore?
I dozed off, dreaming of white sand and the sound of the ocean when the bell rang, jarring me out of my virtual bliss.
"Well that was a nightmare, like usual" Asher comes up beside me, ruffling my hair.
I faux glare at him and shove him playfully. "Don't touch my hair"
"Aw, I'm so sorry" Asher pouts and bats his eyelashes.
"Yeah, I'm sure" I look at him dubiously until he tickles me, making me slam into Jax.
He stumbles a bit and almost falls, but catches himself quickly. He looks back at me, anger no where in sight, only amusement dancing in his grey eyes.
"Sorry!" I apologize, but he shakes his head.
"It's fine, beautiful"
I quickly glance up at Asher to find him stiffen. He glares at Jax, his arm wounding around me possessively.
Jax stares at Asher's hand, the amusement not leaving his eyes.
He puts his hands up in surrender and winks at me. "I'm going!"
"I hate him" Asher growls when Jax leaves.
"He's your best friend, Ash and it's not like we're dating" I explain to him softly.
"Yeah" his arm drops from my hip. "I gotta get to class"
He walks off without a second glance to me.
Unbeknownst of me that was the first sign of my downfall.
*PRESENT*
"We haven't got all day here, Mahogany. Take the dang coffee"
"Oh yeah, sorry. Spaced out again" I take a tall white chocolate mocha frappe from my best friend and start drinking it right away. She hands Janice her green tea and then hands Gwen her pumpkin spice latte. Keeping her caramel frappe for herself she heads back onto the busy road.
