(Ash)

I looked over my schedule. It was almost 10:50 and Kailynn was late as usual. I was at the ditch which was really a abandon train station at the edge of town. My schedule had 5 names on it as usual but the names we’re different. This time it was:

1) Jack Carlton

2) Blake Orscen

3) Vanessa Edgeburg

4) Janet Sommers

5) Mason Likens

Why did this Mason guy sound so familiar? I heard the door creak open bringing me out of my thoughts. Kailynn shuffles into the small room, wiping her palms on her worn blue jeans and ruffling her long brown hair. as she does i can see  the bright red strip of hair she dyed underneath.

"Sorry, I was talking to Tobin." Kailynn murmured as she took a seat on the tipped over bench near the whiteboard across the room. She took the black marker in her hand and popped off the cap with her thumb. She pulled a small thread of rope and a map flew down over the whiteboard.

"Your list, Ash," she said pointing to the small slip of paper I held tightly in my hand. I handed it to her and she looked over it before marking things all over the map. "Here," she said pointing to a blue clump on the map, "Is where you can find Vanessa and Janet. They usually stay together because they are best friends and never leave each other's sides."

She circled the small space with the marker and I nodded. Then I asked, "What did they do?" she laughed slightly and shook her head. "They stole nail polish from a store downtown..." she laughed again and then it finally hit me on how dumb that really was. I laughed along.

"Okay and then here," she pointed again closer to where we were on the map. "Here you will find Jack. He's been arrested twice for drunk driving and killing an old woman while he was driving." she had a sympathetic look on her face. That sort of stuff happens a lot but when it does we always feel bad about it, considering we know what it's like to experience a death.

She once again circled the area and moved on to the next person. "Blake and Mason are cousin's actually." she circles a place far north from where we were. "Mason went to high school with us, remember?" she asked me tilting her head to look in my direction. I thought for a moment... so that's where I recognize his name from! "So what did they do?" I questioned taking the slip of paper and map back from her.

"Well, last year they were accused of being part of the Power Killers, but nobody has proof." she replied, stuffing a bunch of papers into her work bag. "And they also were found in an alley last week planning something with three other unknown boys. We don't know exactly what they were doing but it seemed pretty bad." she concluded.

"How old are they?" I questioned. She quirked her eyebrows and said, "Why are you planning to date one of them?" she smirked and laughed. "No! Heck no! I was just wondering. I wanted to make sure Tobin didn't set me up with some fifty year old freaks." I laughed scrunching up my nose in disgust.

"That would be weird." Kailynn smiled.

~~=~~

I ducked under next to a knocked down cable pole and crawled towards the end and poked my head around the corner. Two unnatural redheads stood next to each other trying to start a fire, but just totally fail. I roll my eyes and push my body off the ground and towards the two girls.

"Vanessa it won't even like work like what the hell? I don't even like want to do this anymore!" the shorter one cried throwing her hands in the air acting like a cry baby. I rolled my eyes for what felt like the hundredth time and continued walking towards them. "Who are you?" the taller girl with freckles asks.

"Does it matter? Come with me." I said taking her by the wrist.

She yanks her arm away and screams. "OMG we are totally going to die today Janet! This freak is going to kill us!" she whines running over to what looks like a cosmetic bag sitting on another knocked down wire pole. "Let me put some lipstick on first." I scoffed.

Are they serious right now? I quickly pull out my ISW badge and hold it out in front of me. "Are you sure about that?" I ask and their eyes go wide.

"Oh please," Janet says, "Do you actually think i'm that stupid? That badge is totally fake, just like you." before I can think about doing anything my fist connected with her jaw. Ouch that will leave a bruise. Then Vanessa comes up behind me and hits me with her shoe. "Get off of her!" she wails. I grab them both by the wrists and take the cuffs, barely ducking under Janet's punch.

"Hey look!" I yell catching them both off guard, pointing in a random direction. They gasp and turn and I knock them both to the ground. Janet is small so it isn't hard to put the cuffs on her. Vanessa on the other hand, is a bit more difficult.

"There," I sigh a breath of relief as I wipe my dirt covered hands on my black pants. They both wiggle and turn but I push them up and hold them in front of me before they can manage to get anywhere. I practically drag them half a mile back to ISW and walk through the front doors this time.

As soon as I walk in I am bombarded with questions and people asking me if I need food or water. I shake my head no and keep walking towards the interrogation room. I push the two girls ahead of me through two doors and into a small waiting room.

"Stay here and wait till they call your name." Janet scoffs and replies, "It's not like we can go anywhere you cuffed us remember?" I smirk and wave to them as I leave the room and into Kailynn's office.

"Bye." I add before disappearing behind the doors.
