Aliya in the Media
Aliya POV (Pronounced Uh-Lee-Uh)
I opened my eyes to see a room filled with boxes that should've been unpacked weeks ago. I closed my eyes and re-opened them hoping that they would magically unpack themselves. Unfortunately they didn't so I proceeded to drag myself out of bed and to my closet to pick out an outfit. There's nothing in my closet as always. I decided on something simple just some high waisted sky blue colored jeans along with a simple white crop top. Ugh, when are things gonna change? Walking past the bathroom I tripped over several other boxes of things in my brand new apartment. I then showered, washed my face and brushed my teeth. I went to the basically empty fridge and decided that it was time for a change. Well more like an addition to my daily routine, I needed a change. I decided I would try the coffee shop across the street from my new apartment.
I walked outside and made my way over to the quaint little coffee shop across the street. It was a beautiful day outside with the sun shining but just enough clouds to where the sun wasn't frying my skin. It's kind of nice to have a park in between my apartment and the coffee shop.
I opened the door to the shop and smells of coffee and chocolate hit me immediately. I could get used to this. I got in line just to try a cup of whatever I was smelling.
As I got in line I heard some snickering. I looked around until I saw 3 boys looking dead at me. All three of them very unique; one of them more caramel colored, brown hair and tall, another brown skinned kind of short and the third one was smiling, had curly hair, dark skin and just the right height. I looked away from the three as to not be creepy but had to take one more look. I looked over my shoulder and three had become four. A dark skinned guy, kinda loud if I'm being honest who was just looking confused. I turned around quickly as to not make eye contact with any of them.
I walked up in the line and thought I would try something new.
"Could I have a dark chocolate coffee?" I said sounding very unsure because I had never tried dark chocolate but it looked good.
"That'll be 4.49. Also I really like your jeans." The worker who's name tag spelled out Jasmine said. I smiled back at her. She seemed really nice and maybe she knew a little about the area. I started to open my mouth but nothing came out.
It was worth a try I thought to myself.
I nervously reached out to pick up the hot coffee she just made me. I looked up at her and smiled. She flashed a big smile back at me showing off her beautiful teeth.
(Jasmine Above)
I got out of the line and tried to find a table to sit at to drink my coffee and as I was walking, out of nowhere...
"Hey I'm Luke um, Luke James." He blurted out after sliding out of nowhere.
"Hi Luke James? I'm Aliya. Aliya Jackson. What exactly did you introduce yourself for?" I said curious as to what his response would be.
"When you walked into this coffee shop girl-" He said licking his lips. "I just had to know your name and soon everything else about you." He looked up at me with his dark brown eyes trying to flirt.
"Well maybe another girl will walk into this coffee shop just for you." I encouraged as I tried to walk away from him.
"Wait!" Another one of the boys stopped me. "Luke may seem a little arrogant but he will treat you right. He's one of the most thoughtful guys that I know and he can sing. Luke sing a lil somethin'!" He exclaimed, which sparked my interest totally. I turned to Luke who was already standing up.
Before I met you girl I never knew my heart could dance,
I was just a broken record of one night stands.
I stood there a little shocked. He could sing really well actually and now that I think about it, I should give him a chance.
"Well Luke If you have a pen we should go out sometime soon." I said trying not to seem to excited.
Luke rushed over to his now giddy friends and started searching for a pen. He rushed back over with what looked like an off brand sharpie and handed it to me. I took his quite muscular arm into my hand to write down my number. I felt a tiny bit of flexing going on and we laughed.
"Hopefully I will see you soon, Luke James." I giggled, mocking the way he introduced himself to me.
"I hope the same, Aliya Jackson." He said half going in for a hug but not really. I started to leave before a loud voice stopped me.
"Now wait a damn minute... since Luke clearly didn't I will introduce us over here since we've been watching y'all this whole time. I'm Elijah and this is Keith and Algee." Elijah said as he shook my hand and the others waved.
"It was nice meeting you all! I'll see you guys soon... hopefully?" I said happy with all the friends I seemed to make today. I looked back at Luke to see him cheesing like a kid that just got his favorite candy.
Maybe LA isn't all that boring after all.
I walked home almost skipping, happy as can be. That boy was so fine. His sincere yet haughty attitude, his chocolate skin, and that smile, that damn smile was everything.
