"Mom, where are my perfumes?" I yell from the top of the stairs.
"They're in a box in my room, sorry hun, accidentally grabbed your box," she yells back. I groan and make my way down the stairs. I jump up onto the kitchen island, as she stands next to me, unpacking her nice china.
"I didn't know their were stairs in this place, I thought it would be one floor." I pick up an old wine glass as sh takes it fro me and places it into a cupboard.
"It's a pent house sweetie, what did you expect?" She walked past me, her heels clapping against the floor.
"Mom why are you all dressed up? We just unpacked," I questioned her, looking at her blazer and pencil skirt.
"I have an appointment Vanessa, the job doesn't wait." She sighed and I shake my head at her. My mom is lawyer, which is why we moved out to Seattle actually, she just built up a law firm here. Why? She claims majority of her of her clients live around here. Back in Florida my mom would fly every other week going from city to city with her clients, Seattle was just the most common place she'd head to.
"Hey I'm not sure where the bed sheets are, I couldn't find them earlier. Do you mind heading down to the truck and see if that's the last box?" She asks.
"Sure thing," I hop off the island and head towards the door. I head towards the elevator which is only 3 doors away. I get to the main floor past the large lobby. I open up the doors and head to the truck, just one box left. I hop into the truck and lift up the box, of course when it's full of bed sheets, it's heavy. I carry the box to the front door and realize I didn't bring a key down to open the door. I groan and grab my phone out of my pocket to call my mom. I called twice and she sent me straight to voicemail, I'd assume she's on the phone with a client as always. I sigh and hope someone will eventually walk in, 10 minutes pass and I'm still standing in the doors. To my luck, I soon see the door swing open.
"Oh thank God," A sigh of relief slips my lips. A chuckle comes from the boy who opened the door.
"Forgot your key?" He asks. The boy was tall, 6 foot at least. He had dark brow hair, that was swept up an to the right of him.
"Don't exactly have one yet," I bend down and lift up the box.
"Oh, you're new here?" he holds the door open for me.
"Thank you, and yeah I just moved it." I walk in, as he walks behind me.
"what's in that box? Looks heavy. DO you need help?" He asks.
"Uh, yeah, please, thank you. It's bed sheets. You can just take it into the elevator, I should be good the rest of the way up," I smile as we walk into the elevator, he places the box on the ground as I step in.
"Floor?" He asks. "Twelve." I respond.
"Really? Hey, that's my floor also." The elevator shuts. "Forgot something myself, might as well come up with you now. My names Nick." He formally places his hand out.
"Vanessa." I shake his hand.
"Vanessa. Nice name." He bends back down to pick up the box. "Thanks," I grin.
"What number is yours?" He asks, and lets me walk out infront of him. "322."
"Hey, that's right across from me!" He heads towards the door, as my mom comes out.
"Vaness what took you so long?" She walks out with her briefcase. "I didn't have a key, Mom." I tell her. "Oh, you already made a friend, I'm Maria. I'd love to chat but I have to meet a client," She smiles at Nick, pulling the hand back in she went to place out for a handshake to Nick. "Thank you for carrying this up for my daughter, Vanessa, there's money on the table if yu want to order some food, don't wait up for me baby," she kissed my cheek and smiled at Nick. "Thanks, bye mom." I smiled, and walked Nick into the door.
"You can just set them on the floor, thanks again for letting me in, and for carrying thid up for me." I say.
"No problem, Vanessa." He walks toward the door.
"So that's yours?" I point towards the apartment across from mine. He nods his head. An awkward silence slides pass us.
"My friends and I were just heading out to grab a bite, there's where you stopped me, you can come if you want," He asked scratching the back of my neck. I'd love to hangout with Nick, he was cute, tall, seemed kind, but then again I don't know very well, and I just shortly met him ten minutes ago. "You know, I'm gonna have to pass on this one, Nick. I really should unpack, thank you though." I smile at Nick.
"Yeah I understand, that's fine, if you need anything I'm just across the hall," he chuckles.
"Thanks, have a goodnight Nick, it was nice meeting you," I sincerely say.
"You too Vanessa, have a goodnight." He smiles and waves as I close the door.
I decide now would be my time to start setting up my room. The penthouse was huge, and beautiful. It was called a 'Clock Tower Penthouse', since there was 2 large clocks on the building, one on each side, that face the city. One of the clocks sat in my living room, and I'd assume Nick had the other one in his apartment. The one side was just a huge window, which gave a beautiful view, the rest of the apartment was white. I made my way upstairs and found my bedroom. It was large, and mainly white. I had my bed set up, as long as my bed side tables. I then finished setting up my vanity and arranged all my makeup, along with placing all my clothes into the closet, and finally, I was finished my room. After a few hours of unpacking and ordering some Chinese food, I was absolutely tired, and passed right out in my bed.
