The sound of breaking glass stopped her as she ran through the empty schools halls. She turned to find the source of the noise, only to find a broken window and shattered glass on the ground. If she hadn't been running she probably would have been struck by whatever had broken the window.

Looking through the now broken window she saw the half moon and cloudless night above the football field. Normally a night like this would make her calm and peaceful but she was anything but peaceful.

The mysterious shadows cascading over the dull blue, metal lockers and empty class rooms kept her heart rate almost double its usual rate. The only reason that she had come to the now dark and gloomy school in the middle of the night, was to save the only person left worth saving, herself.

Everyone else was long gone, a lost cause. They had abandoned her when she needed them the most and since then they had never come back. Their lives were all in danger but they were beyond being saved. She had the chance years ago but their actions was about to kill them the way they had almost killed her.

She turned the corner only to stop a second later facing the last person she wanted to see standing in the middle of the school hallway.

"Alex! There you are! What are you doing? You need to come home! Mum and Dad are freaking out that their youngest daughter is out, all alone in the middle of the night!"

She searched her brother's eyes for anything, but to her dismay, found nothing. They once sparkled and were caring, everything you would want to see when you looked into your brother's eyes.

Once.

"You're wrong Ty. I will always be alone, even when surrounded by people, I will still be alone. You of all people should know that. I trusted you, but you never really cared. If it meant you got an extra bit of cash you would do anything, say anything for it. What you never realised is that when you told them you not only lost my trust but you lost me as well." She said with a heart full of hatred.

The tears rolled down her cheeks as the walls she had built around herself fell to the ground. There was a time when her walls were thin and that only broke her but as she built the walls up higher and stronger it was harder for people to hurt her because she never let anyone in. Every time she got hurt and the walls started to break she would push more people away thus making the walls stronger until she had become this. A shriveled up glimpse of what was left of her and an image she had created of herself.

Turning and fleeting to anywhere except where people were. Except it never mattered where she would turn to, people were always there. This time she would have to find a place where no one else was and where nobody else was going to find her. If only such a place existed, but it didn't and it killed her to accept that.

She couldn't even save herself anymore so why should she try? Nobody wanted her or loved her. Everything about her parents was a lie. They didn't love her and neither did her brother. It's not like she would ever return the love anyway.

This was who she was.
