Myra's POV
Frost covered my eyes. It was impossible to do anything in this storm. That was why it took five hours of my mother yelling to get me out here. Yet I guess it was worth it. I was thirsty.
"Myra come in!" My mother screeched.
"In ten minutes!" I replied. As I hurried away I tripped over something. A body.
A frosted face stared at me through the snow. I knew I should bring her to my older sister, Lila, but she could be anyone. First I would go to the pond.
As I stepped through the snow, I remembered summer, I remembered warmth and sunlight and less deaths.
Once I got there, I stopped and took a bucketful of snow. The pond was frozen, and not drinking water quality either, but the snow near it melted the best, so I always walked the whole way there.
I stepped back, thinking about how terrible this storm was. It had gone on for weeks, even taking the lives of some villagers. And people had disappeared. In the tiny, olden days village, people from the two thousands lived like a million years ago. I had read the books of the world, and it was all so different. Not that I minded.
After walking even farther, I stumbled over the body again, which I had completely forgotten about.
"LILA!" I screamed. "COME OVER HERE!"
