"Really? You'll go with me?" His eyes were bulging out of his head, and if he was happy, happy, joy-joy when I first walked in that door, then he was dying and going to heaven now. I mean, looking into the freaking light.

He already began pissing me off. "What did I just say?" I mumbled only loud enough so he could hear me. Much to his amusement, I stared down at the ground. . .in regret. . . No, I'm not going to regret this. I won't.

Sure, you won't, the little voice in the back in my mind whispered. But I slapped it back and looked up at Zach's happy, happy, joy-joy eyes. His amused smile transformed into an evil smirk as he came from behind the library's counter. His green eyes were intense as he attempted to stared me down.

"What?" I snapped. I was already in a "pissy" mood and he was adding fuel.

Just admit it. You're doing it to make Edwin jealous. That stupid voice once again whispered.

No, I am not. . . I really like Zach and he'd make a pretty cool date to the dance.

Whoa. . . Did I just say what I think I said?

Oh, boy.

"Great, so I'll pick you up around-- Um, eight-igh." That was a statement.

"The dance starts at seven,"

"Exactly." He winked as he leisurely leaned against the counter, attempting to look hot.

"Well, then, no. Pick me up at six-thirty."

"Naw, I'll pick you up at eight."

"If your not at my house by six-forty five, you can forget it." And with that, I turned on my heel and began walking out of the library. But before I could take more than half a step, my arm was being pulled and I found myself very close to Zach. Our faces were only a few inches apart and I could feel my breakfast coming up.Only to make matters worst, his small, yet muscular arm swung around my waist.

"Six-thirty it is, then. I reckon you'll want to grab a bite to eat." His voice was calmer, quieter, like he'd just lost a bet. And he did. Before I could tell the jerk to lay his hands off of me, he let go and spun me toward the door. "Now go tell your little girly-friends you've got a date with me."

I just stood there and gaped. Sexist bastard. I couldn't even let the words come out of my mouth before he smacked me with the back of his hand on my butt. And let me tell you, I am not the type of girl to let a guy touch her like that.

But again, my words were stuck in my throat as he spoke. "Wear something tight and short." He winked, but not before I turned around to see it. My mouth was shaped in a "O".

"You little--"

"And wear the tall black heels that tone those beautiful legs and bottom of yours." I instantly wanted to whip the ridiculous smirk he had right then and there.

And to think he was becoming a sweet gentlemen.

"I'm only kidding, Stephanie... Wear the dark purple stripper dress for me." He chuckled with a wink.

By the time gym class came around, I was bemused and didn't know what to think. I didn't know for sure if Edwin didn't want me or not because he'd never said anything about much of anything. And then Zach on the other hand -- That cocky, blond jock. I pushed all the negative thoughts aside and focused on the positives. I was glad to be going to the Formal this Friday. Zach could -- sometimes -- be sweet, in which I doubted but I forced myself not to think of that. That was a negative right there.

Before I could even take a step, a tall girl, I knew to be in my grade, stopped me. "Hey, Stephanie." She smiled brightly, he usual bubbly laughter coming into place.
