    (Glyph)

Glyph was in a room full of dragons that are possible suitors for the same position he was up for. They would all be taking the finals with him, according to his mother the finals would include fighting, battle planning, taking care of the wounded, and a long written test.

As Glyph looks around the room to see who he was up against he spots a dragoness sitting in the corner. She looks down at her claws and smiles.

Okay then...Glyph thinks with a small chuckle. He scans the room once more and sees Legend sitting in the front with a grim look on her face and scars up and down her body. Great...I'm competing with her! Glyph thinks to himself.

The Queen walks into the room with a smile. She welcomes and congratulates them on making it to the finals. Queen Duskstar tells them what they will be doing, and that the last part of the test will be written.

Her daughter walks in a second after. She explains what the prize if they pass is and that only one dragon will be chosen to be general.

"As you know, our last general died in battle. May his soul rest forever. Now we need a new general. One who can fight for us no matter what. We need a thoughtful and fierce leader." Princess Dawnguard encourages them. "Now, shall we start the trial?"

When Glyph finished his trial the Queen and Princess allowed him to leave if he so wished. So, Glyph was already flying back home...he had a good feeling about that test he took. Glyph felt that maybe he really would get the spot of his father's.

An even better sign was the fact that Glyph's mother was asked to stay after he had left so the Queen and she could talk. Glyph already knew they were talking about the celebration he would have for his first day. He kept trying not to get his hopes up since they could be talking about what an awful job he did. However he pushed the negative thoughts down trying not to think about them at all.

When he gets home, he decided to make dinner before his mother got home.

As Glyph prepares the cow and two fish he had caught for dinner, knowing Sigil wouldn't be joining them, he lets his mind wander to the dagger. The cow was just cooling down so Glyph figured it would be okay to go check out the dagger.

Glyph walks into his room and over to the spot he had hidden the enchanted dagger. His talons shift through his pillows in the couch he lifts one then the other. Noticing that the dagger wasn't under either he checked the second place he could have hidden it, the box of daggers he had collected over the years. Seeing it wasn't there either he started to panic.

"Crap...where did I put it?" He asks himself frantically. Lifting up blankets and throwing pillows on the floor was probably not the best idea since his room now looked like a wreck. "It's here somewhere...Sigil must have taken it..." He hopes.

Glyph hurries out the door knowing his twin would be at the castle library. His wings carry him back to the castle faster and faster until he sees a line of guards standing by the doors. They don't move as he approaches just stand frozen all in the same direction holding their spears.

He lands in front of one and notices she doesn't look at him. Her silver helmet covers the top half of her face. She has scars all over her body and her blood red scales shine in the light of the moon.

"Excuse me..." Glyph starts poking her shoulder. She moves a tiny bit, but doesn't even glance at Glyph. The soldier falls to the floor with a loud thump.

"Oh no...no, no, no, NO!" Glyph lifts himself back into the air and heads towards the tallest towers of the castle where the balconies were. He flaps his wings as hard as he can, trying to reach the top of the towers.

The doors of a balcony fly open as Glyph barrels throw them. He hurried into the hallway.

The ground was covered with bloody claw marks. Guards lying dead left and right all with sliced necks or puncture marks. Glyph hurries throw them watching his step and looking around frantically.

By the time Glyph had gotten to the library he had seen what Glyph guessed every dragon in the castle was dead. He barges into the library.

Every stone wall was covered with blood an old NightWing lays on the ground, almost looking like a SkyWing from the blood. The old dragon is missing a talon, his wings had been sliced off, and his eyes crushed in. His horns were broken, and judging by the blood on the wall he would gave suggest the murder had bashed him into the wall.

The sight was unbearable, he ran out of the large library and into the throne room.

"Glyph..." A raspy dying voice calls from the side of the throne.

"Mother!" Glyph can feel his tears burning his eyes. He makes his way over to her side.

Nightseer was bashed and bruised, as well as stabbed multiple times in the chest and side. Her once beautiful face was broken and bloodied. She clutched a sword in her talons while tears running down her face in pain and sadness.

"I couldn't do it..." She gasps.

"What mother?" Glyph demands sadly.

"Your brother, the dagger," she whispers.

Glyph knows that these would be her dying word. He leans in closer to the throne ripping pieces of the red cloth off to wipe his mother's wounds.

"He, He's killed her. He's killed them all. Skullvsift was right...lights sacrifice." She whispers in pain. "Glyph...do not let your brother succeed...he can't. Stop him weather you have to kill him or not." She closes her eyes and slowly breaths.

Glyph doesn't move, he doesn't speak, and at this point he can barely breathe. Then, she stopped and it felt like everything good in his life had been washed away with one swing of the blade. It felt like death had taken his life away, but not his soul. As if he just would be around a joyless dragon with no memory of anything good.

Glyph can feel his tears burning his eyes. He didn't want his mother's last sight to be her son crying. But he can't hold them back anymore. Glyph lets the tears come. Glyph clutched the soft cloth in his talons before he cover his mother's face with it.

He forces himself up and backs away. He starts towards the doors knowing he couldn't do anything else. Everything he ever had and loved was gone. All of a sudden Glyph falls the floor a dragon had flown into him. He couldn't see anything out of his eyes, his vision was blurred and he groaned in pain. He lifts himself to his feet however only to see a black dragon holding his dagger.

He can't make out who it was, but he could recognize his dagger very well.

"I'm sorry... Brother." The mysterious dragon mutters.

Then he feels the bitter cold blade of a dagger slice across his face. Swiftly and harshly then the sound of metal hits the ground.

Glyph roars with pain clutching his blinded right eye. He can feel the warm blood sweep from his face into his talons. Glyph falls to the floor then everything goes black.
