Chapter 2

"Girls...come in." We broke our hug and walked into his office nervously. "Ladies, we have decided what we will do for your punishment." I squeeze Marley's reassuringly and she gives me a nervous smile. "We have decided to expel you from this school." Marley's tears come down and I hold myself back by biting my bottom lip. "However, we have decided to let you stay in the same school however you change schools." I find myself confused.

"What if we go to a school in a different state? Perhaps a different country?!" He smiles reassuringly.

"You guys are going to live together." I find my hand over my mouth. I try to keep myself from smiling. I am so happy, but either way, I am going to have big consequences. Big time. I squeeze Marley's hand again and she gives me a shy smile.

"I am sorry again that you have to leave the school. It's for the best." we both nod and as we leave, my mom asks me if we can talk with Marley's mom.

"We are going to ask you a question, and we want you to answer truthfully. Did you really do what you said you did? Why?" Marley decides to explain since she is the one who came up with the idea to do it. She tells them how she dared me to do it because I felt like I was too much of a good girl, and she said she would do it with me so I wouldn't have to face an consequences if we got caught, she told them everything. My mom looked at me with relief.

"Ok, one thing, thank god that you didn't seriously have sex, and two, you don't have to be bad. I actually think that's a super good thing that you aren't bad. You aren't in huge trouble because you didn't do what you thought you did. But their will be consequences." we both nod. My mom hugs me and strokes my hair. "This is not brought up to either Paige or Dad." My mom smiles and nods. "I just don't want to be embarrassed. Please don't tell dad." she nods and rubs my face. "I'm sorry, but I have to tell your dad if Marley will live with us. "Oh. That's right." I say with a smile. I hug Marley before I leave.

"I'll Skype you later." she nods and starts to cry again. "I was so scared." I nod and start to cry. "Me too." We hug again and we leave. My mom and I try not to talk about it. My mom stops and gets me Chipotle.

"Honey, I know you don't want to talking about this, but I want to tell you something. You see, I find it terrible and it breaks my heart that you tried being some image of a bad girl. But you are 17, and I understand this happens naturally. But you must know you don't have to do bad to be a good person." She gives me a reassuring smile as we get out of the car. I run upstairs before anyone can ask where we've been. I immediately text Marley telling her to go on Skype. Before I know it, she is online Skype.

"Hey."

"Hey." I think of what to talk about. Before I know it she starts talking again.

"Well? What do you think? We're going to live together!" I smile at the thought of me living with my best friend.

"I am so happy that something good comes out of this." I think for a moment. "But why are we living together?" She sits for a minute.

"I don't really know. But does it matter? Wherever we go for school, we will still be together." I nod. We talk for about 3 hours, until my mom walks into the room.

"Hi honey. Hi Marley." Marley waves at my mom. "Honey, can you come downstairs? Your dad and I need to talk to you." I nod and tell Marley I'll be back. My mom and I walk downstairs into my dad's office and he has his computer on. Um.

"Hi honey." I smile at my dad and hug him to get a hint of what's on his computer. It's a house. My heart stops.

"W-what did you need to talk to me about?" My voice is shaking as my dad breaks our hug. My mom takes a seat next to my dad.

"Your father has found a new job, but." I cut off my mom.

"That's great!" She smiles. "yes, but that's not all. Your father has found a job that he wants to place in North Carolina." I'm pretty sure my mouth drops to the ground. North Carolina? I thought if we moved we wouldn't move within an hour away, North Carolina is a different state! Across the country!

"North Carolina?! Isn't that on the East Coast?!" My mom and dad nod with a smile. "Mom, that's across the country! What about this house?! What about all your friends mom?!" She smiles and puts her hand up. "Honey, North Carolina has great schools, and since you were expelled, it's ok. I think you and Marley will be ok." I gulp as I nod. North Carolina? How are even going to get there? I've been to lots of other states, but not North Carolina. I'm scared it will be...different.

"But we love California! It's always warm, the sun is always shining, don't you love California? Mom? Dad? And what are we going to tell Paige?!" My mom just smiles. "We will be moving tomorrow." My mouth drops to the ground and I know it this time. "Tomorrow?!? TOMORROW?! How are we going to move tomorrow?!" My mom smiles. "Honey, I'm sure it will be ok. You have to be in school, and your dad's new boss said for him to start right away."

I go upstairs as my parents finish talking to me. Marley is still there, but I don't know what to tell her. She looks up. "Oh hey, you're back." I smile.

"What would you do if I told you we were moving to North Carolina?" Her jaw drops.
