It was a dark and stormy night, thunder crashed over head as lighting lit up the sky. In a small cottage on the edge of town, a young man lay shivering in his bed. Samuel was 22, but still terribly afraid of storms. His mother and father, now passed away, use to make fun of his fears. This is why he was hiding away in his room away from any one who may notice.

All of a sudden there was a hurried knock on his front door. The young man debated with himself for a moment but decided he needs to show a strong front to whoever came to him. He approached the door wearily, stealing himself, hoping whoever it was would not notice his fears.

He was shocked by what he found.

Standing is his doorway was a soaking wet man carrying a muddy, also soaked, dog. it was Davis, a very handsome man from town. His dog, Jasper, must have gotten loose again.

Davis gave his apologies and asked to come in to dry off and be sheltered from the storm. Knowing he could not say no to the handsome man, Samuel step aside, allowing them both to enter.

He quickly grabbed them towels and placed the kettle over the fire to heat some water. Pulling out the basin, Samuel poured in the water, trying desperately to ignore the excitement of Davis being in his home as he readied the bath.

Davis put the dirty animal into the warm water and began cleaning it. The water quickly turned dark with the mud, but a clean Jasper was starting to emerge. Once cleaned, or at least mostly cleaned, they pulled him out of the water and started the long task of drying. His thick fur remained slightly damp, but resting by the fire he would dry quickly.

Once the dog was taken care of, Davis grabbed a towel for himself. He pulled off his shirt exposing a glorious chest, much to Samuel's dismay. Samuel quickly turned around, giving the handsome man some privacy as well as allowing himself time to calm down.

Just as his breathing calmed and he felt he had control of himself once more, a crash of thunder erupted outside the tiny cottage. Samuel cringed as he heard the small whimper escape him. It seemed as though the storm had not passed and now he has guests to witness his unmanly behavior.

Samuel turned quickly, hurrying before he could embarrass himself fully. Davis looked at him curiously, as though he had heard the whine. Samuel felt his blush as he told them his own apologies that he was tired and to make themselves comfortable through the storm.

He almost ran to his bedroom, jumping under the covers just as another set of thunder and lightening broke through the sky, lighting so bright in the small room, everything was vivid in detail. Samuel felt his body start to rock and quiver once more as he tried his hardest to hold back the noises of his fear.

He felt a tear escape his eye and glide down his cheek as a particular boom rattled the walls of his home. He felt pathetic, lying here in is bed, afraid of a simple storm, while the man of his dreams sat in his living area.

Samuel was in the middle of berating himself further when he felt the bed dip. Thick arms made their way across his torso as a solid heat settled at his back. He was pulled into the hard chest, soft lips brushing his temple as calming words where whispered to him.

They stayed like that through the worst of the storm, Samuel was beginning to feel storms could be quiet manageable wrapped in Davis' arms. There were no more loud booms, only the little pattering of rain as it hit the roof.

Samuel sighed. Now there was no reason for Davis to hold him, comfort him anymore. But as he started to slide away, thinking it best if he just get it over with. The thick arms constricted, keeping him in place. He felt the kisses against his neck and ear, as Davis whispered something different into his ear.

He whispered a story about a man and his dog, wishing to be with one man and only that man. How they took a walk in the mud and rain, hoping they finally had a chance to be with him. Samuel heard the words of love and joy, whispers of contentment that he finally had Samuel in his arms. That Davis would be there to protect Samuel from his fears for as long as he allowed him. And he did.
