"I need you to investigate the E class"

You surveyed the strawberry blonde's features, doubting his honesty.

"What do you really want? "

"Take a look at this."

Asano gave you two folders. The first was filled with information of the E class students- their personal information and their grade statistics. After surveying them,  you notice that their grades have risen dramatically.

"Are you trying to say that the E class students cheated or something? " you felt angry- your friends were in the E class and you didn't appreciate people underestimating them.

"Look at the other file." the strawberry blonde spoke calmly- he'd probably planned this conversation beforehand.

The other file contained printouts form magazines and websites about the moon getting destroyed and...

rumours of a yellow octopus?!

You looked up at the boy sitting in front of you.

"So you finally broke from all the pressure of being the perfect student,  huh? "

"Look," the strawberry blonde started to get impatient.
"I know my dad's been hiding something. The E class students have changed- ever since the moon blew up,  they'd been walking around like they own the place."

You stare down at the files again- it was strange that the E class suddenly had better grades,  but there wasn't anything a little studying couldn't fix. Maybe they just got a good teacher. There were endless possibilities that didn't involve a yellow octopus and yet,  you couldn't help but feel that there was some sliver of truth in Asano's statement.

"What do I gain by helping you?" you spoke more cautiously this time- the Asanos could make people's lives hell if they wanted to and you did not want to be one of those people.

"What do you mean? "

"Why do you expect me to help you? "
you were never close to him and asking for such a strange and big favour seemed unreasonable.

"You're a detective,  aren't you? " he smirked for the first time "Your curiosity will eat you alive soon."

And with that,  he left,  walking away like the confident asshole he was.

No matter how much you hated to admit it,  you knew he was right. When you found something suspicious,  you needed to figure it out- people said that your curiousity was what made you such a great detective in the first place.

But curiosity is a double edged sword- what is the price you are going to need to pay for yours?
