Stef-

Sitting across from Lena sharing conversation over a cup of coffee was like I have known her forever. I told her a lot of the places she could go to meet people, as well as a few things about myself and she told me about herself.

Flashback

After getting our coffee and finding a place to sit outside the cafe, I told her about some of the happening places she could go to get to know some of the people here in San Diego. Thanks Stef this is great, she said. This is the first time since being here in San Diego that I felt really and totally relaxed. Well I have that effect on people, I said jokingly. She laughed herself. No you do make me feel like I made the right decision in returning to California Stef, she said. So are you from San Diego, she asked. Yes born and raised, never been anywhere outside of California, I said. Well I have been everywhere and then some, being an army brat I have practically been all over the US and other countries, so I am happy to just put down some roots, she said. Sounds good to me, I said. She smiled as I returned it. So did I help you in anyway? I ask. Yes Stef you've been a big help, she said. Good, should have been a tour guide, I said. Yes you should have, what do you do Stef if I'm not being to nosy, she said. Well I protect and serve the community, I said. Let me guess she says, you're either a police officer or a fireman excuse me person, she said. Well I'm a police officer, I said. I knew it, I bet you look dynomite in your uniform, she said with a smirk. Well if you think stuffy tweed uniform is dynomite I guess I do, I said laughing. I'm sure you look good in anything you wear Stef, she said. Wow was she flirting with me, or is it my imagination, I thought to myself. So what is it you do Lena, I ask. Well I just got hired at a school Anchor Beach do you know it? she ask. Yes actually its the only school here in San Diego that I wouldn't have mind attending when I was younger if they had it then, it's the one on the beach right? I asked. Right, I don't even know how I'm going to get any work done, working there, she said laughing.

Stef-

Stef did you hear me? she asked. Oh sorry Lena, what were you saying, I asked. I was wondering would it be okay to exchange phone numbers? she asked. Oh sure, giving her my phone number to put her number in and vice versa, and returning the phones back. Stef I know this is kind of out of the blue we really don't know each other that well, but are you busy on Friday? she asked. Other than work, what do you have in mind, I ask.

Lena-

I really surprised myself, when I asked Stef whether she had any plans Friday. My son will be with his father for the weekend, she said so I'm all yours, she continued. So you have a husband? I asked disappointed. No I have an ex husband, she corrected. So she's straight I thought to myself. So I was thinking maybe you could show me around this town of yours, I'll drive, pick you up an we go from there, I said. So you're asking me on a date, she asked laughing. Oh nothing like that, I don't want to be presumptuous to think you're not already seeing someone, I said. So what are you saying Lena..... you're gay? she ask. Is that a problem? I ask. No not at all, she says. Good, I say.
