Three weeks later
In the morning I wake up at the best part in my dream (damn it). I slowly make my way out of bed and get dressed in dark jeans, an Aztec-print hoodie and navy blue TOMS. I make myself a strawberry smoothie for breakfast and head out the door early. On the way to school I stop by Anna's house and wait on her driveway. I hear the sound of a door closing and look up from my phone. Anna is walking towards me, dressed in black leggings, a PINK hoodie and combat boots.
"Hey Anna" I smile at her
"Hi Liv" she smiles back at me. From there, we walk to school.
After math I meet up with Riley at her locker. I can't find her at first, but with her big, curly brown hair she stands out from the crowd. I walk over to her.
"Hey Riles, what's up?" I ask. She smirks at me.
"Hey Liv! Oh not much, just watching the new guy check you out" I feel the color rush to my cheeks. She can't be talking about Jack Simpson, can she?
"Oh, ha cool. Do you mean Jack Simpson?" I ask, trying to sound as cool as possible.
"Uh, yes! Who else?!" She grins at me. I laugh.
"Haha, yeah, who else?" I say and we walk to English together.
At lunch Riley and I meet up with our other friends at our usual table.
"Guess what you guys. I saw the new guy, Jack Simpson, checking Liv out!" Riley informed the group. There are squeals and giggles at the comment. I blush. Just as Krystal is about to say something the whole table falls silent.
"Here comes trouble" Marisa says, peering past me.
"What do you mea-" I start to say something when I notice what she was talking about. Sure enough the meanest, most arrogant girl in school, Amanda, and her group of brats, Emily, Julia and Jennifer, were walking towards us. I glance at them as they walk by our table.
"Hey freaks" Amanda says in a snake-like voice. I purse my lips, trying not to say anything I would regret.
"Hello Amanda" Anna says politely, although a bit sarcastically. She always knows how to handle mean people .
"So, what did you guys do this summer? Go to the farmers market with your peasant families?" Amanda smirks. We roll our eyes.
"Shut it Amanda. And for your information, we had awesome summer breaks thank you very much." Anna looks around at the rest of the group and we all nod in agreement.
"Oh Anna, I forgot you were still here. With all the kids in your family I thought you would be gone by now, you know, since your family needs the extra room in your house. You have how many siblings? Is it 5? Your parents must have kept trying until they got a successful child. Look how that turned out! Well, we must be going. Bye losers!" Amanda and her friends stalk away from our table. I look to Anna and her eyes are filled with tears.
"Oh, Anna, sweetie, lets go to the restroom." I say lightly. She nods quickly and half-runs to the restroom with me following in her footsteps.
In the restroom Anna sits down on the counter. I sit next to her and hand her a tissue. She takes it and wipes her eyes.
"Anna, you can't listen to Amanda! She's just a rich, mean snob who enjoys watching people hurt. If we all took everything she ever said to us seriously, we'd all be curled up in a ball in our rooms. Well, some of us are already like that, but hey" she smiles weakly.
"You know what Amanda is, she's like everybody's own personal satan" I laugh when I say this. Anna laughs too.
"Thanks Liv, you're the best" she hugs me. I watch her as she applies a new coat of mascara.
"Well, shall we?" I ask.
"We shall" she smiles at me and we walk back to the cafeteria.
On the way out of the school I bump into my best guy friend, Alec. I smile at him and ruffle his short black hair.
"Hey Alec! I didn't see you yesterday!" He laughs.
"Yeah I was sick again." Typical Alec, always getting sick.
"Wow Alec. So, do you want to come by my place today?" I ask him, my hands on my hip.
"Sure! Do you mean now?" He asks me.
"Yeah, why not?" I shrug.
"Okay then, lets go!" He runs out of the door. I laugh and chase after him.
